In summary, its just some financial reporting error made by the management team. Throughout the period of 4 years, they mis-reported financial indications so that they would appear to hit the financial targets set. Most probably they were not performing as indicated and they made adjustments on the accounts that do not accurately reflect the actual performance of the company.

All this happened when Kevin Rollins was CEO of Dell. Thats until they missed the Number 1 spot to HP and Michael Dell retook the position as CEO. Check it out and also read the comments, they do a lot of help.
