Does this year's iPhone 12 models have more customers/people would wanted to buy and change their phone than the last year's iPhone 11 models?

Because I didn't really obsessed with last year's iPhone 11 models but this year's iPhone 12 models is what I've been waiting for ever since early of this year 2020 so I have decided to change but been waiting for a month still waiting for my iP12 Pro to arrive. It seems that 12' models are facing shortage about the stock everywhere. Is it normal for every iPhone models just came out 1-2 months facing stock shortage in Malaysia?
