I just read that amongst 30 million over smartphone users, there are only 500k iPhone users.

Anybody can clarify or fact check this figure?

It's basically a very big problem if you ask me.

There is so much that Apple is that is not what people think.

Someone needs to do something... icon_question.gif

This is very serious problem if the government does not intervene. Day by day, apple user will become extinct.

Previous iphone user, bought a a mid-range android this year as secondary phone, it was so good i decided to make it my main phone.

Android has come a long way in terms of smoothness and responsiveness, the only thing that iphone is still better at is pictures (camera focus is better), videos and some apps are better optimized like the instagram app.

But lets see moving forward, now with Apple M1 chip and you can use iOS apps on a macbook or mac mini, it might be a gamechanger.

and that's why we are never the country that Apple will be paying attention to. Despite SG right next to us...they got everything as first batch in day 1 but we get it in their last batch together with kazakhstan

Apple phones still last longer than Android phones. There apps are supposedly better than Android. I am a writer and I have apps to write that is not on the Android platform.

It all boils down to function.

For photographers, music creators, and filmmakers, Apple iPhones are still far superior.

But how many of us are in these categories anyway?

Few things do bug me about android, taking picture requires more time to focus compared to iPhone.

Also sending a screenshot or picture via WhatsApp is really horrible, somehow pictures or screenshots are compress badly and the picture quality deteriorates in WhatsApp.

But the open system and file system of android is definitely better.

In Malaysia we have around 5% iOS user base, hence that is why Apple hasn't really been aggressive here. This can be seen in the various companies I have worked yet when I see the mobile operating system in the analytics data.

After iPhone 5s I wanted to give Samsung Android phone a try since I'm already using Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar etc.
It's ok and not bad at all but then i realised it's not as convenient as having an iPhone when it comes to sending/sharing files between my devices, especially after I got an iPad later. I'm using Mac computer for both work and personal. Finally returned to iPhone when I decided to replace my sluggish productivity note app (Evernote) with an iOS/Mac-only note app...

Maybe you can talk to Apple about this issue. If Apple gives special incentive to Malaysian people only, iPhone usage can grow quickly in our country. rclxms.gif

Often those people who get used to iPhone system don't go back to Android. That's what happen for me. So people just need reason to try it and enjoy it, then they will stay with it, and Apple usage will go much higher then 500k.

People say a few things....

Apple is for the rich... when there is now iPhone SE and older models going for 1k plus
Apple has its own ecosystem. Apple iPhone only communicate with iPhone. Bullocks.

So...

If people know iPhone is really better, more people will buy iPhone. For sure. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

I guess majority failed to understand the fact that majority of the demographics in Malaysia is the B40 group - mobile phones are not essential ‘needs’ therefore it doesn’t require them to splurge as much when affordable ones are easily and readily available in the market.

It doesn’t really matter if the penetration statistics for iPhone is lower than most countries - there’s so much more choices (entry level) here in Malaysia compared to America / Europe.

Now, you can get an iPhone for a little more than RM1k for the older models. Not many people know about that. So... with that little bit of RM1k, you can expect to use the phone for around 4 years.

That's a good bargain. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Not many can even afford a RM1k phone. The phone price range that sells the highest volume here in Malaysia is between the RM300-RM400 range.

Yup, until everyone does something for the nation (a completely different topic altogether) it will never happen. In the meantime back to the topic, whilst iPhones may get cheaper as well as 2nd hand and pre-loved units are available, most folks here in Malaysia are also used to the Android ecosystem so the pain of migrating across (especially for the non-techies) is real.

that's understood bro.

Well... I guess Malaysia will never be an Apple nation.

I will accept it.

And that Apple Credit Card, Apple Pay, Apple News and Apple Fitness Plus.... AND HomePod Mini may never make it to our shores.

I can decide to go to America to live in.

Better yet, live in Apple Park.

I get everything Apple there.

FREE maybe???? bye.gif bye.gif bye.gif

Yes, iphone takes pictures very well, unlike some Samsung phones using Android operating system, I personally like to use iphone because of its high security.

One of the top reasons people getting an iPhone is iMessage which is not really popular here in Malaysia.
