The DT440 (which I own) serves the purpose of listening to Jazz/Sopranos/Live Classical/Movie Themes kinda music...Studio rock or metal (unless those pre-85s) recordings sounds a bit harsh too my liking, which is where a Grado SR80 (which is owned by a close friend of mine living just a few blocks away) able to 'soften' out the over the top twangs and pitches...I listen to multiple genre and types of music, so if you have a tendency to lean more towards a genre, get the headphones that suits that, simply because you'll be wearing them longer than songs that you occasionally hear.
Both are closed back cans which one is targeted towards mobile travelling and the other, an entry level targeted for studio monitoring purposes. In a way both might suit your bass requirement but not so much in the comfy department. I'm not a fan of the DT231 headband design at all, so I it would be the M30 for me regardless of the sonics quality. AT seems to win in this department, but if you want the perfect one for the budget, may I suggest the Shure SRH-240...its just like RM18 above your budget, but the sounds it produces, really is serious business...

just ordered a dt231 pro from walabies and most probably will arrive tomorrow. any recommended portable amp to pair it with?

Hmmm.... so that's mean expensive headphone/IEM with low impedance can be driven to max volume with/without E5 amp,
but only tapping parts of it's sound quality. To enjoy the sound quality to the fullest MUST use better amp. Is it? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Guys, want to ask something which is quite stupid but this happens yesterday, I listened to broken mp3 file, which it has *pop* sound halfway (all the mp3 in the album has this pop sound). Can this cause any damage to the headphone?

I'm asking because either my hearing having problem or my DT231Pro is damaged in this case, where the treble sounds so sharp.

Very very different not slightly... totally different sound i guarantee. Vocal wise depends whether u prefer sound stage or not for me with sound stage its better 

Go for the CNY bundle the if u wanna get dt 880pro cheaper and worth it i guess. Goldring is very very in your face/straight forward. soundstage flat compare to dt880 go try it out at jaben 

Guys, I am new to Beyer Dynamics  I just bought my dt 880 250 ohms almost a week only .I am planing to buy an amp below rm 900 , I wonder what amp are you all using can recommend me any good amp ?
