Some quick impressions on the Beyer T1 and Schiit Lyr pairing, based on the first two hours or so of listening: It's very, very good.

Happily, no such issues with the T1 - the minute I plugged them into the Lyr and turned up the volume, there it was... Synergy.
No, more than just Synergy - it was Chemistry, the kind of chemistry that makes a man and a woman want to get together immediately to make babies.
But right now, I'm a happy head-fier...  cool.gif

lol looks like we have a number of T1 owners here! and you're getting the LYR too?
*
Yup, and if it's not good enough I'll just fund for a Woo Audio 2.
The poison is strong in this thread.

Also, I guess I can say bye to my DACport and M50 now.

Getting the Lyr to go with your Asgard and Bifrost ?

Now you're really full of Schiit bro...

I was initially discouraged because people have claimed the Lyr lacked control and finesse.
Actually, I don't really know, I might get a Woo Audio 2, 3 or 6 instead, but I can't really audition it without my T1 now.

I can't wait for the day when I show people my collection and go "And here is where I keep my Schiit."

your DACport is the regular and not LX right?

Regular ol' DACport, yes. You interested in buying? laugh.gif

stringfellow has both the T1 and WA2.  brows.gif

The WA2 looks awesome, but I'm still wondering if the WA3 or 6 will just do the job right.
Or just take a chance with the Lyr?

Either way, my bass will be all but gone with this setup.

want the LX so i dont go double amping tongue.gif

for the T1, im not sure if lyr would be a good pairing though. if anything, it'll merely just amp up the default signature (high/low in general) and you may still have "problems" with its mids ^^;
*
I'm just taking a page off jwcy's experience. I might still go for a Woo Audio 2 like what stringfellow did.
We'll see after I get my T1.

And I honestly disagree, I tried the T1 with the Govibe Portatube and its mids was more pronounced and upclose. I imagine a full desktop tube amp would do it more justice.

oh ya! thanks for correcting. mind was kinda thinking on the asgard for some reason.  sweat.gif

though, based on info/reviews, the asgard sounds more musical/have more control than lyr being "all power" despite being a hybrid as opposed to full solid state of the asgard.

wonder if any schiit owner here can provide further info/testify along/against this?
*
Depends what phones you're driving really. Asgard works well with low-impedence models; Grado, Denon, Audio Technica and up to my HiFiMan HE-500, despite being an ortho. I also heard the LCD-2 pairs well with the Asgard alternatively.
The Lyr's for the higher end of the impedence scale, but I do caution you if you plan to use low-ohm models with it. A few people have already busted their $1000 Ultrasone and AKG phones because they didn't read the manual ( or lacked any basic knowledge of electrical engineering).

For you IMO, would be better off with the Asgard if you plan on getting it, since you seem to favor AT phones.
You can safely upgrade to the AT flagship and still be oozing musical goodness with the Asgard paired.

no, i think of buy lol

Still very much cheaper if you buy it individually compared to getting from a distro channel.

Ofc, this is excluding tax and other schiit...lol.

The T1 came knocking on my door today when I got back from work. Gonna test it out on my Asgard just for shits and giggles.

not to OT, i just recalled a convo between us about whos being rich laugh.gif

Asset wise, you're still better off than me since you have a vroom-vroom.

Aside to my T1, yeah, Asgard falls short of driving the T1, it's getting respectable sound, but not to its full potential.
Sound is just okay, I'm holding off until I get my hands on a more powerful amp, preferably a tubey (WA2) or hybrid (Lyr) before I make my final word on it.

Btw, anyone here tried the T1 damping mod featured on head-fi?
Looks interesting, might give this a shot when my warranty goes poof.
