QUOTE(wkn @ Nov 13 2020, 10:40 AM) there is only one place that i know that will let people buy ps5 on launch date & that is Gaming Gadgets at 1U. i tot somebody shared earlier that gaming gadgest 1U is taking PO? lolthey are not offering any po. instead they will only sell ps5 to customers on a first come first serve basis. other retailers probably won't have any stock left on launch date due to the shortage of stocks. |

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Nov 22 2020, 04:57 PM) Depending on the monitor (not all), it can accept the 4K signal from the PS5 and the monitor will downscale to 1440p (but its 2160p 60Hz output from console into the monitor). You will also be able to change it to 1080p 120Hz but the monitor will upscale it to 1440p but it wonβt look great. Apparently 4K to 1440p downscale is still ok to good looking (better than 1080p) but 1080p to 2k upscale looks worse than 1080p on a native monitor if you get what I mean. i believe monitor also does not have the processing power to upscaling nicely, not like TV where u have better image processor. Thats why when u have non-native reso, it would look really bad. but at TV it wont be too bad |

QUOTE(tnsai @ Nov 23 2020, 07:41 AM) Looking through this list seems like the 32inch i'm looking at don't have in Malaysia or prohibitively expensive for a secondary monitor for console gaming haha.. The cheapest i can say is samsung odyssey G7 which is HDR600 compliance, but it doesnt really produce good HDR becos the local dimming only 8 zone. TV is cheaper than monitor on this. better u invest on TV than monitor la my fren if u wan enjoy fully ur PS5. Ps4 and ps5 no much diff if u use scrappy koko TV or monitor.![]() The EW3280U better? |

QUOTE(tnsai @ Nov 23 2020, 08:23 AM) As mentioned, TV cannot fit on my table haha .. I only game on my workstation area because only place for me that is really private, where my wife and kids won't "enter" if u wan go for those predator series, which the price is absurdly high, might as well go for 48inch lg oled |

QUOTE(tnsai @ Nov 23 2020, 09:04 AM) LG Malaysia didn't bring in the LG CX48 right? start at 55" But I can tell u hdr and non hdr is DAY and NIGHT diff. This one is not ur cpu/gpu power ytd 3090 or not can give u tat effect lol. I rate HDR most important feature than raytracing. Cos u can really see the diff. I reckon u invest more later u wat buy hdr tv again u spend more. Last time I also never experience hdr so I donβt know the special, after I bought lg oled c9, wow. Even gaming also u see those special effects is so much lively. Eye opener for me. But if u cant arrange out space, then just get 4k decent monitor is enuf, maybe at least with wide color gamut.Actually honestly, I not care that much about hdr also haha.. my budget also not that high, it went from rm2k to now begrudgingly 3kish ..my main form of gaming is still my PC.. My order of priority is 4k @60hz ( VA/IPS .. i might prefer IPS because my current 1440p for PC gaming is IPS haha) in fact i started off looking at these 27UL850-W 32UK550 but now looking for 32-43in size (43" is very forced already) HDR i really don't care for it much because as you pointed out.. HDR you really need all those local dimming la .. certain brightness etc. They either don't come in smaller sizes for tv because I guess smaller sized tvs are considered budget here... or if on monitors they are considered super premium .. so it's probably not within my budget range anyway. tony_mw liked this post

QUOTE(SubRoutine @ Nov 23 2020, 10:42 AM) Totally agreed. 4K and ray-tracing might be awesome and all, but HDR is definitely the game changer here. Once you game in HDR, you cant go back to SDR anymore. Try playing Red Dead Redemption 2 in HDR....omg... Ya, i cant say is easy to implement, because some game hdr effect is not so good some ok, altho i cant say no much processing power needed, but need money to implement Personally I'd rate HDR gaming as #1 in wow factor as it is somewhat easy to implement, with FPS, 4K resolution and ray-tracing after. |

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Nov 23 2020, 02:20 PM) Its a 1080p monitor, so its just like regular Joe monitor .... G7 is a decent monitor, i vouch for it, cos i poison my fren to buy 1 Ultrawide isnt supported so I think if you get that you will get big black bars. What you want to look at is resolution, refresh rate, HDMI type of the monitor, HDR support of the monitor, your budget, type of monitor panel. I am planning on returning my 4k 60 UK670 monitor to get a Samsung G7 which is a 1440p monitor (not natively supported by PS5 as an output, but it takes the 4k signal and downscales to 1440p). So if you aren't looking at high refresh rate monitors (you don't care about those kind of games that have a 120fps option, best to go for a 4K 60Hz monitor, you will have to watch reviews on which to go for, I would recommend the LG line, so UK600, UK650, UK670 etc. There are also other brands you can look at. If you want a middle ground option (like me) 2K monitor with high refresh rate, you can look at LG GL850 or Samsung G7 or something around this range, you have the option to upscale from 1080p 120Hz or downscale from 4k 60Hz, a good middle ground until (if they do it) Sony allows 1440p output officially. HDR is kinda shit for most monitors but it does make a small difference, people say HDR600 is what you should be looking for at least, I have had experience with HDR400 its ok larh, I don't really like HDR on monitors because it strains my eyes too much. Whichever monitor you go for, do check the manual what resolution input it supports. Make sure at least HDMI 2.0 port, panel its based on your own preferences there is IPS, VA, TN etc all have their own pros and cons. |

Monitor mostly don have hdmi 2.1, those high refresh rate is dedicated for display port only. So if u wan use monitor for ps5 u can forget about 4k/120hz. 1080p/120hz still can

QUOTE(tnsai @ Nov 24 2020, 10:34 AM) I just read that announced a couple of months ago that hdmi 2.1 4k monitors coming. What do you guys think, will they be really pricey ? (like much pricier than any equivalent non hdmi2.1 60hz monitors?) yes i believe they will be damn pricey. Even TV hdmi2.1 also not much have lol. that specs should be reserve for high end monitor only, and high end monitor quality is worse than mid average TV. Economics of scale lo..Don't know if i should wait it out.. or if it is out of my budget anyway , i get one now that i could use for work.. |
