Hi guys,
I got my Mac Mini M1 few days back.
Right off the bat, I see static and blinking purple squares on the screen at startup. They go away after I open any window over them. This keeps happening at every restart.
Then there's blurry text issue. I tried disabling MacOS Font Smoothing using Terminal scrip, it helps a bit but still a pain to look at.
I connect my old Samsung 24" 1080p monitor to the M1 direct using HDMI 2.0 cable. Swapped a few HDMI cables, and results are the same.
Anyone experienced this ? Would appreciate any inputs. Thanks guys.

QUOTE(carpathia @ Jan 11 2021, 12:11 AM) Probably it's your monitor problem ? I'm not sure, but not ruling out the possibility of old and new tech incompatibility. Been using the 1080p monitor as second display with my iMac for long without any issue.

QUOTE(helpme2 @ Jan 14 2021, 03:24 AM) Hi guys, just got my Mac mini few days ago. Right now I’m using it with an external monitor (S2721QS) and I realised in the display setting I don’t have the option to adjust the resolution and refresh rate. also when I enable HDR the black are more grey and colours are pretty bland but it is all good when HdR is disabled. From “System Information” -> Graphics/Display “Resolution”: 3840 x 2160 and “UI looks like” 1920 x 1080 @60hz I’m using hdmi to hdmi, and I believe the is 1.4 hdmi cable. Anyone with such issue? Are you seeing blurry texts ?

QUOTE(TaintedSoul @ Feb 1 2021, 01:03 AM) Im seeing blurry text. Any idea how to solve this problem? Hi, Check out this resource about Font Smoothing : https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/disable-fo...-macos-big-sur/I did some adjustments using the Terminal script, as outlined in that page. It helped a little, but its still bad. Could be compatibility issue with my old 1080p monitor, I suppose. For now, I hook up the Mac Mini M1 to my 32" TV as display. Looks good, even though it's only 720p. Gonna shop for a new monitor.
