QUOTE(OhNooy @ Nov 11 2020, 02:59 PM) 8-core GPU, what should we expect here? are we expecting the video editing process is better than previous MBA? previous MBA gets a lot of bad comments regarding video processing. 5X faster graphics performance according to Apple. Of course have to wait for reviews to see real life performance. |

When they talked about the Air, fanless and completely silent is one of the cool new features they promoted.
Then when it comes to the Pro, an active cooling solution now becomes their selling point. Win liao loh. BTW, Apple Silicon M1 Chip in MacBook Air Outperforms High-End 16-Inch MacBook Pro This post has been edited by stargazhe: Nov 12 2020, 12:24 PM |

QUOTE(westlife @ Nov 18 2020, 06:41 AM) It is game-changing for sure. Windows laptops such as Dell XPS and Microsoft Surface Laptop/Book used to be viable competitors to the MBA/MBP, now the gap is so wide they are left in the dust. With M1 so far ahead, in 2-3 years time Apple could potentially sell M1 Macs at a significantly lower price and they will still be faster than Intel PCs. Just like their strategy with iPhone and iPad. |

QUOTE(RiriRuruRara @ Nov 21 2020, 08:06 PM) guys wta does apple have any app that can make the Mac Air have the Quick Type function that the macbook pro have on its touch bar?? This function would be very useful to me bcs i have really bad spelling, but to get it i need to spend over a extra rm1k for a mac pro??? Not that I’m aware of but from my experience the autocorrect function on macOS is excellent. It basically corrects every spelling mistake I make so I can type fast without worries. |

QUOTE(plushie @ Nov 23 2020, 11:06 AM) Interested with this macbook air M1, but it seems there are a lot of problems those reviewers didnt reveal? https://www.forbes.com/sites/patrickmoorhea...t-want-to-pass/ Although link says Macbook Pro, but should be same for air since the diff is only fanless. What do you guys think? Now I am having doubt to buy this. QUOTE(EpsilonStar @ Nov 23 2020, 12:15 PM) i think it's safe to wait out a bit more if you are not in hurry to get a laptop. i won't be surprised if many of the early reviews are paid by apple. after all apple need a very positive early impressions to set the stage for adoptions for such brand new and ground breaking change. Early reviewers are not paid by Apple, but they are all handpicked by Apple to loan them the devices before general release. So generally the reviews tend to be on the positive side. It doesn't mean that they are biased, just they will highlight the good stuff more. On the other hand, you have websites like Forbes which is well known to talk crap about Apple while displaying obtrusive ads all over the place. Just check out their so-called 'reviews' on any Apple product. They all go along the lines of "Don't get me wrong, the [Apple product] is by all means excellent, but it is actually terrible." If you are interested in the MacBook Air, you can check out MacRumors forums. You can get honest feedback from real users there. In my opinion, the M1 is without a doubt, a first gen product. Apple may have been planning it for years but real world testing has just begun. Don't expect it to be flawless. However, I believe most of the incompatibility issues will be solved within a year. It is up to you whether to wait and see or be an early adopter. |
