still worth to buy the M1 Air or to directly buy the M2 model ya? considering to buy the M1 model since price drop to 3599 but don't know worth it or not...

I read somewhere that base m2 mba 256gb ssd is slower than m1. Not sure true or not. Even mac mini m2 ssd also suffer ssd slowness compare to m1 version

Yes, the m2MBA 256gb have slower ssd reading/writing speed compare to m1mba 256gb....that is because apple change to use 256gb ssd per slot, and left another ssd slot empty...it does affect the speed but depends on what you want to do....

if only use for browsing, email and documents....i don't our usage will reach to the limits...

bought not brought....
Personally i didn't add RM800 for AppleCare....
Better use this money to buy iCloud/AppleOne....much more useful, can back-up everything and synchronize the file across your M1MBA and iPhone/iPad...

welcome to Mac family...=)

share more after you use it.

Ayy, typo a lot this days haha. Will consider your suggestion. The integration with ip with mba ecosystem is really smooth. Currently familiarizing with the basic usage (single click, right click thinggy) what I list most if able to open .heic format smoothly rather than need to use 3rd part apps in windows.
Just a quick question, i have the ugreen Gan charger 90W, it is safer to use? since the m1 charger is 30w, worries later overload the battery. Saw at apple website that even 90W apple charger can use safely in mba m1, but not sure 3rd party gan 90w charger can safely use

can use the 90W charger, and the device will draw the sufficient amount of power, but not more.

benefit:
1. charger will have less stress = less hot produce
2. can use to charge multiple devices
drawback:
1. expensive
2. big size

my 30W GAN charger is the same size as Apple 20W charger. easy to carry.

BTW, Apple 20W charger can be use to charger your MBA too.

Good info. i plan to use by previous gan charger used by normal notebook. Thanks

urm can't speak for sure, but I'm using the usb c from my lg monitor that has 96w power delivery for my m1 for close to one year, battery seems doing ok, so should be fine, so long ur charger is really official.

had also bad experience with fast charger and charges my iPhone X, and it become bulky, and the machine charges the repair for rm500, instead of usual battery replacement, so I guess you need to becareful on the charging time especially when you're idle.

yeah seems like overcharging and its quite nightmare. need to be alert when to use such charger. planned to use my gan charger during travel only and save hassle to bring more charger head. btw thanks

QUOTE(chinti @ Feb 21 2023, 02:21 PM)
i ordered the anker 65w gan charger instead.

setup the macbook yesterday and i got so much to learn  biggrin.gif
very impressed with the speakers and battery life  rclxms.gif

Anker is bangsawan charger. Always in my cart but never checkout due to price. range. last2 take ugreen instead laugh.gif

QUOTE(xiaojohn @ Feb 21 2023, 02:59 PM)
the only reason for me to choose the UGreen 30W charger just because:
1) cheaper in price
2) lightweight
3) can fold into Toufu

enjoy your MBA and feel free to ask us if you need any helps

lol this is win hahahahha.

Mine use Ugreen 90W charger only during travel. pair with Prolink type c cable with E-mark chip. not sure its marketing gimmick or ehat but the cable feels sturdy. the gan charge can charge my watch, ipong and mba in same time, really happy

no issue so far for me. i think the "lifespan" concern is just over-worries.

I agree. Actually it takes a daily more than normal usage to hit the MTBF. either you using your mba as server or you daily doing disk benchmark.

So for me if your mba more than 5 years, you actually pay off the investment of using mba. time to tech refresh cool2.gif
