Maybe due to chip shortage they decided to keep the price. I would consider the MBA M1 if the price dropped.

$200 for new M2 chip, bigger & brighter screen, 1 extra port, upgraded camera. Is good value if gonna use it for 3 or 4 years. Plus new look.

Yup, mine is base as well. Gold.

I only want base model, cause I don't want to spend more. So MBA M2 is a no go with the ssdgate. I open thirty over tabs in Safari and WhatsApp, Outlook, Teams etc.

I can’t help but feel Apple is intentionally delaying the MBA M1 shipping so we change our mind and buy the M2.

This “processing” thing is BS. What is there to process? Which leads me to believe that the M2 is probably more profitable than the M1. Given the price increase.

Mine changed to shipped. And Apple Store states it will be delivered on time... which means all this while they just delay for no reason.

It is 2024, I bought my MBA M1 in 2022 right after M2 was launched and the reviews disclosed SSD gate.

I am still super happy with it - feels as fast as day 1. I think it is the best bargain ever.

And lucky me, I got the rose gold one which is now pretty uncommon as it is discontinued.

The base model is a bargain. But don’t compare lah, MBA portable, no need carry screen around hahaha.

I just got a.MBP 16 M3 Pro for work. As long as you don’t open too many browser tabs, MBA M1 is just as fast. When you go 20+ browser tabs can see MBP 16 M3 winning.

And I am still perfectly happy with the MBA M1, because it’s so light! Around the house I grab my MBA and not the MBP. Likewise going out for meetings its the MBA. The MBP is like the desktop.

Web, slack, WhatsApp, browser, g docs, g sheets, g slides… all work on M1.. the difference is you cannot open so many tabs/windows on the MBA.. it’ll slow down..

Working on a desk, MBP 16” is superior simply cause of the screen. If you use external monitor with the MBA M1 same same.

I don’t do rendering, coding, process videos… tbh.. M1 is more than enough. And due to the form factor it is what I usually grab when not at a work desk.

I had the first unibody MBP 13”… and that was very long lasting. man this MBA M1 reminds me the same.

I bought it in 2022… after the M2 MBA launch disappointed me.. too little improvement. If I am not at a desk I grab the MBA M1 over the MBP 16” all the time…

Should you still consider a MBA M1 in 2025 or 2026? Yes, if your usage pattern is like me…

Dunno what you guys do on your MBA M1 to feel you need more ram. Under no circumstances I need to pull out my MBP 16” M3

I typically keep WhatsApp and browser with 10 tabs open. That’s all.

Don’t see the need to upgrade the MBA M1 anytime soon. Haven’t seen Apple intelligence being of any use… if it is then will need more RAM for sure. But until then…
