No, Microsoft office is a paid/subscription product. You would have to purchase a license or subscribe to Office365 to access those applications.

Apple provides their own equivalent for free
Alternatively you can use Google Workspace to edit and view office documents as well.

Paired directly. Did for my keyboard, earphones & mouse. Yeah there is some pesky bug with the bluetooth but so far stable for now.

Does anyone have this issue where the Globe key (Fn) stops responding and no longer switches between languages after a period of time?

Restarting or logging out helps restore it but I just can't seem to find the relevant setting for it.

This thing really power efficient. Been running on full battery from morning until late evening off work, 9 hours of productivity, yet by end of the day still got 30% juice.

Another thing is, running Windows 10 on Parallel Desktop is pretty stable. Installed it for 2 applications though, which is built only for Windows, but i need it for my work.

Check your setting under System Preference > Keyboard.
So far my side didnt encountered any problem, maybe because i preset it to do nothing other than being a Function (fn) key.

I wish to buy MBA 16GB 1TB SSD for my wife.

She is a lecturer & a researcher.
Mostly using microsoft office 365 for works & teaching.

Then she will use certain research simulation softwares to do her research which is available only on windows. Is Windows Parallel stable & can run smoothly on Apple M1 ARM chip?

Do you think these max out spec is wayy overkill? Or i should i just go with 8GB RAM only? She likes to dump all here work in one place hence the 1TB SSD.

Im user of PD+W10. Currently the only supported version are Preview version where you can download for FREE. So far i have 2 essentials apps under W10, and both run smoothly, havent experience any crash or lagness. MBA do start to feel warmer, but still feel much cooler than Intel MBA. I can’t promise the apps your wife gonna use will have the same experience as me, since its a Preview version from both PD and W10, so bugs or instability are expected.

I highly recommend go for 16GB Ram if you wish to keep the device for years to come. Apps are getting more and more memory hungry everyday. To top this, current M1 Macs utilizing Swap Memory where it used your SSD as RAM, shall your RAM have no sufficient freed memory. You can google the pros and cons on this, but best decision is to maxed out RAM, if financially allowed.

Storage size is very subjective, depend on users. It made no difference on performance for lower or higher storage size. Get any options you find suitable.

I feel like this kind of use case usage would benefit more from a MBP. Rather than spend all that extra amount upgrading the spec, go for laptop with an actual fan that won't auto throttle under the workload. Have seen parallel runs using it for gaming seems OK, but as long your usage does not have zero-tolerance for downtime I think its acceptable la. By zero tolerance I mean if your simulation gets effed you can cause some harm.

The SSD is overkill la unless the simulation output will always park in local storage first & if they are large. 365 comes with 1TB free OneDrive anyways.. I never save important documents on local anymore. Like or not, I never recommend people to put their hours of work on a local & they should train themselves to sync it in cloud.

Those sellers in Shopee are selling volume licensing. It’s cheap but do not recommend to store essential things in the one drive. Once the admin of that account got suspend, all data can’t be retrieve back anymore.
