Sharing my battery health condition after 6months usage.
The battery hardly go below 10% and normally i will disconnect the charging once it reached above 80%. Once in a while i left it charge overnight, forgot to turn disconnect it after left it for charging.
So far after 82 cycles still retain 100% Health. Usage wise is really still on par from day-1. Can tahan full day running on battery with plenty of juices left.
Hi bro. Where to get report like this? After 6 month my MBA battery already drop to 97% maximum capacity.
Don't mind if i ask. Did you left your battery constantly plugged-in with battery at full charge level, or did you often use until the juice depleted before recharge?
Nope. I always manually plug out the cable when it reach 80% and only charge it when it is in 20-30% range. My battery is bad maybe bcoz I use too many Intel app like spotify, Back Up and Sync and other printers app runnning in the background. I have uninstalled all intel app except Back Up and Sync. Now, I use Beta release spotify that is native M1 chip. I hope it is not worsen after this.
I dont think using Intel apps will contributed to the battery degradation. I have similar apps usage as u do, and havent shut down the Mac ever since its turned on. Okay, i do shut down once a month just for 2 minutes to refresh the memory, but it will be back on after that, so its more like a restart rather than real shut down. Kept it on 24/7 as i need it to constantly perform Time Machine backup to my Time Capsule.
Hmmm, I will try not to Shut Down often. Before this I shutdown almost every night before sleep.
strange, so both of u also hv the same charging pattern.. 80-20 rule.. only charge when it depletes to 20-30% percent ? and also unplug when it reaches 80%?
My suspicion is your charging behaviour has led to battery degradation - if you use your MacBook like an iPhone then its battery will be similar like one.
Mine is at 7-month mark but battery is still 100% capacity, cycle count 28. I rarely plug it out and I use it with a monitor; hence.
It's highly unlikely that Rosetta has degraded your battery like that. In fact, M1 chips were optimised for that.
hmmmm, Maybe room temperature is the factor? My home and my workplace all dont use air cond.
Hello, I was wondering if 8gb ram would be enough for web browsing, Netflix, some basic photo and video editing? Furthermore, do you all usually buy with the apple care plan?
I'm considering of getting this but abit unsure as I've been using windows all this time. Was planning to get this year to get tax relief. Many thanks.
Yes. It is enough. I mainly use these app: word, excel, powerpoint, web browsing, Minecraft, Editing video for online learning using Davinci Resolve (not 4K footage) OBS, Spotify, Telegram, Whatsapp, I also install parallel to use office becoz sometime office in mac dont have the feature I need. So far, no issues at all with 8GB ram 256GB M1 MBA.
There are a couple of guys here in Malaysia who do similar work especially with some of the Macbook Air and Macbook Pro with soldered-on RAM. They help you upgrade it (using the same method above in your video) and swap out the RAM chips.
Wow. Can introduce it to me ar? After my warranty expired maybe I will consider this.
Hi, can help me? Whenever my screen turn off, my download and uploads will pause. I think this never happen on BigSur. I only noticed it after updated to monterey.
can try System Preferences - Prevent computer from sleeping when the display is off in the Energy Saver
Erm, I cant find Energy Saver option in System Preference. But I found "Prevent your Mac from automatically sleeping when the display is off" option in System Preference > Battery > Power Adapter. I just tick it. So, I think I need to plugged in, in order to activate the function to prevent my mac from sleeping. I hope it solves my problem. Tq.
You want to prevent your Mac from sleeping while in battery...?
Nope. At least dont pause my downloads and upload while Im sleeping. I thought when I woke up the next morning, the download/upload will finish. But it did not. I sleep, my mac sleep also. It is fine when im not downloading or uploading anything.
That was what I was looking for... I have that option on battery in Mojave, but ever since Big Sur that option is no longer available... I do want my Mac to stay awake even when my display is sleeping WHILE on battery... My only solution now is to set Display not to sleep at all, then manually turn off display brightness...
Or you can play song on repeat then slow down the volume to minimum. I think it will do the trick.
