Probably asked a few time already .

Im completely new to the apple ecosystem , maybe its time for me to jump ship.

Im not sure whether i should just get the 12 or 12 pro . The differences are quite small , i mean aside for the camera , other differences are discernable.

a rm 800 price difference is a lot. I could get myself an air pod pro .

So is the 12 pro worth it ? or should i just settle for a normal 12.

If you want a 3rd eye aka camera, Pro is the way to go.

If you don't, 12 is better.

FYI, I feel that Pro Max is the better option when it comes to camera. Pro is for those who wants the features 3rd lens of pro max minus the size.

And if I were you, I'd skip airpods or airpods pro. Old school earphones with cables are still better tongue.gif

Is the telephoto to die for ? I've never tried apples telephoto yet ? But I do notice that I kind of use a lot of the 2x telephoto zoom on my note 10.
Wont the regular 12 come with a 2x zoom too ? I dont mind losing the portrait 'blur' thing.

Yeah , ill probably just reuse my buds then biggrin.gif .

since you cant find anything that 12 pro have is needed for you, then 12 is enough already
the main different is camera lidar and ram
*
Yeah , i think the 12 would be fine . Its probably just FOMO with the 3rd eye tongue.gif

QUOTE(Lon3Rang3r00 @ Nov 11 2020, 10:25 PM)
cool2.gif  I believe, it's really up to your budget. Lidar scanner is really something up to personal preference. You can live without it. You do get better build quality. But after you slap a case on you can't see the difference (Unless you using clear case). After i saw the review on the battery on iPhone 12 Pro, i straight jump to the pro max.. it's Rm400 more from Pro but you get better value than the Rm800 you paid from standard to Pro.

I'm also like you trying out Apple Ecosystem, i think airpod and apple watch i can wait for later time. I do have my Jabra Elite and the spare Oneplus wireless bullets i got it free from 7Pro. not needed another wireless  earphone.
*
Pro max is probably too expensive and big for me , i'd feel comfortable spending below 5k incl accesories. Yeah , i should probably stave off from buying an apple watch and airpod for the mean time. Its just that im spoiled with my galaxy buds lol . Im still keeping the current phone as a place to keep stuff and watch shows.

Also the current reviews is kind of worrying , on how the battery doesnt last and how the 12 pro throttles on heavy loads. Is it something i should worry ? I dont bother playing any mobile games but i am a power user.

For throttle issue, i think currently only Genshin Impact got affected? Other application probably fine. Anyway, if you're still having your Android phone working, you can use that phone to play games. and keep your iPhone just for your daily stuff, this also help prolong the battery life. innocent.gif  Apple never promote their phone for gaming
*
That solves it then , no doubts about it anymore tongue.gif

Ill probably only use it for daily use like browsing and med sos .

Entertainment and work will be done on my android phone .

Similar boat but from iPhone 7+
I went for 12 + AirPods Pro combo and cheaper than 12 Pro
I was also in dilemma and in the end the high possibility of Pro Motion iPhone 13 or 14 2-3 yrs down the road (that force an upgrade) helps me decide to save the 800
*
Yeah , that too.

I think ill be selling the 12 if 13 gets a 120hz display .

But this question also comes up to mind . Wouldn't the 12 pro retain more value than the 12 ?

I'm seeing people sell their used 11 for cheap while used 11 pro still fetch quite a price. Senheng is still selling the 11 pro for 4399 yo icon_rolleyes.gif

Im curious, if you dun mind sharing, what prompted you to switch from android to ios?
*
Used to be a hardcore Sammy boy. Bought nothing but their flagships since the S4 I think.
Currently using a note 10, which arguably has a ton of issue, especially with how they cheat SEA customers with exynos chips.

I guess I can consider myself to be a android power user, I've spent countless of hours rooting, customising (eg substratum) installing custom roms etc, but I've grown to dislike it. Maybe I've grown tired of it? I really like a vanilla experience, and I feel like ios is the best when it comes to it.

I think the one that made me want to switch was when I got loaned an iPhone 7. It blew me away, on paper it had terrible battery life and miniscule amount of ram etc. But it was fluid. No hiccups, battery life was decent too. Mind you we're talking about a 4 year old phone. If this was an android phone (Sammy) it'll shit itself by now. The support was decent too. If I'm not mistaken it recently just received its last update? A two year old Sammy flagship didn't even get one lol.

Another thing is that, so far. I'm getting bad experiences with android. Terrible memory management is still a thing and I don't know why. It's so infuriating to see these manufacturers chase 10-12gb ram on their phones when the os itself can't even utilise it properly.

Currently on my note 10. I'm getting terrible battery life, the phone freezes from time to time. It's especially glaring when I'm on chrome.

But it's not to say I'm going to ditch android. I'll still keep it as a 'productivity' phone since I think a lot of things when it comes to productivity, android does it right, although a bit beta ish and buggy lol.

Lastly it's because everyone in my circle is on apple haha, it's so goddamn annoying when they're all on Imessage and when they offer you to airdrop and you just can't.

( why don't I just use a different android device aside from Samsung? Well Samsung arguably is the only premium android brand so far, and one UI is the best skin amongst the rest.)

Edit : another reason why is because optimisation on android phones are abysmal. Probably since there's so many devices out there.

Google Phone user here. Pixel is a really nice phone till today. However, there will be no more security updates end of this year. One thing I look forward to iOS I guess its the app experience in iOS.

Google Pixel is really great but to get in Malaysia is a pain in the a** and it supposes to be a mid-range phone but when it converts to here it becomes a premium phone instead.
*
It's hilarious how resellers pump the shit out of the pixel prices, I think my most fav pixel phone would be the 6p. But as you said, they don't really sell it here.

I really worry about the warranty since 80% of my devices all claimed their own respective warranties lol. I reckon trying to claim the warranty on a pixel device can be quite an endeavour.

Thats simply because iPhone 11 and 11 Pro is 2 diff product class
The OLED itself cost a lot
But 12 and 12 Pro - for me the hardest part is to let go the 6GB ram but usually not gonna open 15 apps & 25 tabs in safari while taking videos so...
Again everyone has different usage, preference
*
I don't think the 6gb ram would cause much of a difference since ios is so goddamned good in managing ram. The 11 pro after all did come with a 4gb ram, and so far I haven't seen anyone complaining about the lack of ram. smile.gif

Oh wow, thanks for writing all these! I nvr used a Samsung phone before too. My previous android phones are oneplus and xiaomi only 😅

So which 12 series model are you going for?
*
1+ and xiaomi both make great killer devices, but it's not what I'm looking for hehe.

In a dilemma between the 12 and 12 Pro. FOMO the 3rd eye brows.gif

It'll also take 2-4 weeks for the pro while the 12 takes a reasonable week to arrive.
