These are not "old" terminology.
These are genres of games.

Beat’em Up is 1 vs many at the same time usually by button mashing, since it's you vs them.
Fighting genre is 1 vs 1 where button mashing is not the gameplay objective.


Shoot’em up is for games like Raiden, 19XX, Contra, Metal Slug regardless of the character or machine with the guns, which is also button mashing.

FPS is first person shooter.
How does this apply to spaceship/aircraft shooters where there is no person ?
Did you just call Fortnite an FPS when the view is 3rd person ?
