HI! I just purchased a desktop from Shopee, an HP M01-D0204d that comes with 4GB DDR4-2666 RAM. I am planning to add 8GB RAM to the desktop, so I am wondering if it's okay if I add 2400/3200Mhz type of RAM, on top of the 2666Mhz existing RAM?

Thank you!

So is it better to get the same speed?

If you buy an 8GB 3200MHz RAM, it will be electronically limited to 2666MHz
If you buy a 8GB 2400MHz RAM, the original 4GB RAM 2666MHz inside your PC will be downclocked to 2400MHz

Simplest answer: Buy an 8GB 2666MHz

PS: Ryzen processors perform better with dual channel RAM. And Dual Channel works best if both stick is the same size, same speed & same latencies. IE, buy 2x8GB 2666MHz then remove the original 4GB RAM

........ Did you not read what I wrote?
In order to get dual channel, the RAMs has to be identical

Examples:
You will get dual channel with these setup:
2 x 4GB DDR4 2666MHz
2 x 8GB DDR4 2666MHz
2 x 16GB DDR4 2666MHz

These setup will not get you dual channel:
1 x 4GB DDR4 2666Mhz + 1 x 8GB DDR4 2666Mhz
1 x 4GB DDR4 2666MHz + 1 x 16GB DDR4 2666MHz
1 x 8GB DDR4 2666Mhz + 1 x 16GB DDR4 2666MHz

Noted it will run on 2666Mhz.

1 x 8GB DDR4 2666Mhz + 1 x 8GB DDR4 3000Mhz

The safe way is to maintain ur existing HP RAM and buy another similar HP 4GB.

If ur existing RAM is below part number, it would be good to buy from the one listed in Shopee:
RAM-HP-4GB-V2-7EH54AA

Just sell the original stick and get 2 new 8GB DDR4 3000MHz
Problem solved

Don't expect a high price for your used RAM though. Max you can get it for probably around RM80

tumpang tanya di sini, hope it's not considered out of topic: will adding RAM invalidate warranty these days? let's say a HP or Dell desktop?

and what's the agak2 going price for a stick of 4gb RAM these days?

I contacted HP before I add more RAM and they say it won't affect warranty. My desktop CPU housing also has not sticker at the opening part. You should contact the manufacturer first.

Make sure that the RAM you bought is the same make, model and type as the original RAM.

Before adding RAM with a different speed, you should check your motherboard's specifications and see if it supports RAM speeds other than 2666MHz. If it does, you can give it a try, but be aware of the potential performance trade-offs. If your goal is to have a total of 12GB of RAM and you want to maximize performance, it's generally better to purchase another 8GB module with the same speed (2666MHz) to match the existing one. This will ensure that all the RAM operates at the same speed and is more likely to work seamlessly.

RAM can mix & match just the performance affected
