Just helped a course mate downgrade her compaq v3000 turion x2 from vista to xp. Really hard to find the drivers, there are still some devices on her notebook that I can't find their drivers.

some of the unknown device are quick launch buttons, and other HP trademark craps... not really useful...

This could be a way to accelerate Vista adoption in the consumer market.

Giant company usually partners with other giants to accelerate product adoptation in order to gain market share.

agreed... but u know wat... Vista ain't cornering US juz yet... brows.gif

press F10 fast fast when u on ur lappy... go find "SATA native support" and disable it... then restart and boot from CD... or u can download Intel AHCI driver and put it in USB floppy drive then when loading windows setup, juz press F6 to load the driver... smile.gif

Added on September 29, 2007, 5:47 pmu guys can also download Intel drivers from Intel website...

and non-centrino V3000 series laptop usually use Broadcom WiFi... which can be found in HP website or other open drivers site... icon_rolleyes.gif

of course the help centre will tell that the specified model of laptop dont support XP coz they dont provide the solution. but we still can find those drivers from manufacturer site...

1 more thing is most of their products come with vista basic coz its cheaper than XP pro.. ha ha ha~ uploading additional driver for OS that they dont provide will waste their hosting storage~ they hav to pay more for larger hosting spaces

ok... found out recently tat newer laptop models wif built in Intel X3100 (965G chipset) don have any option to disable the AHCI mode... so normal XP CD setup won detect the HDD... cuz it's running on ACHI mode... vmad.gif

so to remedy this prob... i juz use the Intel ACHI driver... i finally got the setup to detect the HDD but got error copying the driver while copying files... vmad.gif no i'm still digging my way around this... i curse HP and Microsoft to the MAX....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Added on October 3, 2007, 7:46 pmok... solution 1 to install Vista on 965GM chipset lappy found and confirmed usable... juz follow the following steps:
these are done on Compaq V3658TU using OEM Windows XP pro and my frenz Vista trial which he got during last year's WCG... icon_rolleyes.gif

1) install Vista(u gotta bear wif it) on 2nd partition... and u gotta fully install till u can log on to vista... no drivers needed though...

2) restart and install windows XP on the 1st partition... but don forget to load the AHCI drivers from USB floppy drive or u can integrate it to ur Windows CD... brows.gif

3) look for all the drivers while waiting...

4) remove Vista from the startup.ini...

5) format the partition where u install Vista...

6) hola... go cheer wif ur lappy and celebrate ur victory over HP's stupid Vista promoting campaign and show ur finger to them...

i guess i defeated HP yet again... brows.gif brows.gif brows.gif

if u still fail... u can send ur lappy to me to check and maybe crack it... brows.gif
