I am doing major reno in my house and intend to hack the walls and put in ethernet cables in it, running through walls until my office/gaming room. Choosing CAT7 cable as it's more future-proof as I don't want to hack the wall again within 10 years (if nothing goes wrong).
I have not used CAT7 before (currently on CAT6), the CAT7 is using GG45 not RJ45. So can I still use the cable normally and connect it without issue to my TIME modem and router?
Anybody with experience on using CAT7? Do shed some light pls.
Note: prefer using cable not wifi due to more stable connectivity

QUOTE(bobowyc @ Nov 2 2020, 10:53 PM) Not sure what you mean by GG45 Well from all my googling, it mentions cat7 is using GG45 connector instead of RJ45 (although with backwards compability). That is what made me confused and don't want to make wrong decision. Once the cable is installed into hacked walls, i die if it's a wrong decision.

QUOTE(nate_nightroad @ Nov 3 2020, 12:26 AM) FYI in europe, when they put wiring, it's covered in pipe. meaning the wire would be inside the pipe…therefore, if you would like to change or update the cable/wire, you can pull them out and just push the new one in..there, u dont need to hack down the walls That is if from 2nd storey down to 1st right? Mine is an apartment. With the starting point at living room, have to go through ceiling area, pass a toilet and finally reach the room. Many zig zag. I don't think a pipe can do this.
