Artificial grass has different grades.
This will take up big portion of your budget. The grass price is ranging from RM2k to RM7k per roll of size 2m x 25m. Of course, there are also pricier and cheaper (lazada & shopee) options. You'll get what you pay for. Your size 5' x 70' requires about 2m x 22m grass (included waste) to achieve seamless effect. As for installation, it also depends on your base situation. Is it a flat concrete/tiles floor? Or a soil ground with weeds? This determines the base materials (sands/drain cell) and labor (weeds removal / leveling). Please post a picture of your garden. I had just completed my ~2200sqft garden with ~1100sqft artificial turf, ~290sqft rubber tiles and ~800 sqft natural turf. All in cost about 17k including the self purchased artificial turf. My contractor is considered cheap for such project but also less perfect workmanship for artificial grass seam. May be fine for your size. |

One more thing, your picture includes pebble stones and some plants.
These are also quite costly for 70' length. You may do this in later stage if budget is a concern. |

QUOTE(Snoy @ Nov 3 2020, 09:25 AM) One more thing, your picture includes pebble stones and some plants. Better just DIY... Pebbles I bought rm20~RM40 depending on sizes. Each bag 18kgThese are also quite costly for 70' length. You may do this in later stage if budget is a concern. If put on soil, then need to lay weed mat, before putting stones.. The only problem is moss/mold growing on the stones. Currently i put white vinegar on it to prevent growing. Dunno will work or not The plants just buy separately..... The grass better engage pro if want it to be nice |

QUOTE(Soniaclf @ Nov 3 2020, 04:41 PM) How’s the condition like during rain for artificial grass? Is it very damp and muddy? Artificial turf has better water permeability rates than natural turf.Oh yeah, will mold grow on the grass as well? The key is the backing underlay. If we lay it on flat concrete/tile floor, then drain cell is recommended. For normal soil ground, sands or crushed stones are recommended. QUOTE(Soniaclf @ Nov 3 2020, 04:48 PM) Wanted to grow real grass, but there’s no direct sunlight so the grass doesn’t grow very well. For this size, it's not difficult to DIY if you are handy. It’s soil ground with weeds. The sand will come to the porch area whenever it rains. Steps are: 1. Remove weeds. 2. Optional: Spray weed killers 3. Level the ground with sands with compaction. 4. Optional: Lay geotextile 5. Lay artificial turf 6. Nailing |

To break down the cost for TS:
1. Sand: <RM500 per truck load 2. Artificial grass: RM1500 -> RM3000 (OK grade). 3. U-Pin Nail: <RM50 (100pcs from Lazada) 4. Labour: RMxxxx (2-3 days work) 5. Roro bin (if needed): ~RM200 6. Geotextile (optional): ~RM800 per roll For artificial turf, please look for spec with more than 30mm pile height and 16000 stiches/sqm. There are some good branded grass in Malaysia but they are very expensive (>RM6000 per roll of 50sqm) You need around 2m x 22m to achieve seamless effect but also comes with lots of wastes. You can join the grass to save the cost but the output may have visible seams depending on contractor's skills and grass quality. |
