How do you guys find the new Proton Personna? Any comments?

Looks very similar to Gen 2 from the exterior.

There is an official thread about Persona. No need to open a new thread about it.
Btw, technically cannot tell becoz this car so new. Wait around one month.

the car not bad for its price la, but it looks like building a new car with old parts..as many parts can be seen in other proton cars. Maybe its a new model aimed to clear out old spare parts stock .

One more, there is already a thread about Proton Persona. There is no need to open up a new thread in a section that talks about Technical stuff.

When you look at the car, the first thing that came into your mind is Gen-2, because of the rear look. No point selling a new brand car, if you are copying the same thing. Since they already have Gen-2, why can't they do another different look? Duhhh!

cut cost? if not how are they goin to offer 45k
this is company saving car.. the company fall or not depend on this car.. so the more time they use, the more loss they will make..
besides, this car is built meant to be as sellable as posibble.. look at the rival myvi? about same price but with a damn large boot? i will take persona anytime.. not to mention u r safer when in big car rather than small car..

hmm what im thinking about this car is if it uses v6 engine or a 1.8 DOHC it would be great..

then i somehow like the interior design for this car...hope can fit the gearbox panel in my gen2 also..

but i really hope this car will have a different look outside..but..now damn dissapointed..

if u do notice the rear boot area, if u take out the carpet. you can actually see proton actually weld a metal plate to extend the back to make it longer.

Proton make a real fuss before unveiling these sohai car which is just a GEN2 longed version!

What with all the promoting, partial hiding, and peeking in the box...F*** THEM!

I was naive enough to think that: Wao..proton is coming up with a brand new model which might look good!
And was even planning to drop by the proton show room to do a booking.

But when unveiled, i nearly !!!

Perodua is better i personally think as their cars are more exciting and not just copy paste!

CONCLUSION: Proton still is a LOSER!

since it seems that is the same chassis as the gen2, as for the rear seats. Some claim that u have slightly more headroom, IMHO, i think proton make the seat thinner, hence u get better clearence. i might be wrong on this.

i have test drive it
it has more power at low rpm compared to my gen2

add wings and you can even fly faster than Air asia airbus 330.....

have seen some persona's around my place here at kelantan mostly BL and ML. with a lil darker tinted + sportrim mostly i think 16", it looks cool..

i dunnoe y i say this, but its a lil better looking than gen 2 itself with sportrim and tinted.

why called it persona, should it being call sedan gen2, while previous called hatchback gen2...
coz all the same, they know they make mistake in gen2 interior by placing the power window switch at middle, n redesign the door trimming... still it's too noticeable a copy paste add from previous gen2, why called it persona... haiz... still the best proton car is old saga knight...

i think the intention was to provide a sedan model of gen2.
people has this perception that hatchback (gen2) is small and sedan is big.
i can say that gen2 (hatchback) boot volume is almost as wira sedan.

if u drive a gen2, u might find that the steering wheel is as good as u need it.
it is suited best for it. those tiny buttons for radio are at place where they should be. fyi, i drive myvi also. & wira, toyota seg, civic ak.

Actually the Persona name existed in Proton more than 10 years already. The Proton Wira here is known as Proton Persona in the UK and some overseas market. Even now in the UK, the Persona is called Proton Gen2 Persona.

Selling the same type of car with different wheelbase with different model names isn't the first time for Proton. Take the Wira/Putra/Satria for example. The Putra is basically coupe version of Wira and the Satria is obviously a 3 door version of Wira.

As for the door trimmings and consoles, Proton is just addressing to customers' complains. If that thing is already bad, why still wanna make it into a new car? Doesn't make any sense. 3 years is more than enough to receive feedback from customers. 3 years is more than enough to address to the complains by customers.

Its not intention. It's part of the plan to completely replace the Wira lineup. Wira is available in two types, remember?
Gen2 replaces the Wira Aeroback and the Persona replace the Wira Sedan.

maybe nowadays car manufacturers categorize cars e.g.
1,3,5,7,9;a,c,e,m;a3,a4,a6...
so consumer might think that every manufacturers also the same.

Hey, i have a fren who owns a persona..
He told me when reverse leceh a bit cuz very difficult to see behind..

It's like the rear view is kinda obstructed by the boot's height..

Any owners here share the same prob?

gen2 butt is higher than wira,civic ak,corolla seg;
so view thru the back windscreen is limited.

ur fren have to familiarize, then it's ok.
side mirrors are there to help.

this car is supposed to be the replacement model for our wira's.
just look at it.there is no form of imagination put into the design of the vehicle.it's just a gen2 with a saloon back and a strip of chrome

ive test drove the car when it came out and i must admit it handles/rides pretty well compared to a stock wira.
