it kinda depends on your priority, for me, im looking more into maintenance cost and NVH/comfort, x50 itself is value for money but the replacement costs for that 18 inch tyre and quicker maintenance due to turbo is a turn off for me

city is great in that aspect but jury is still out on nvh and ride, previous gen was quite bad

Seems many people are voting RS Hybrid.. may I know why? Many saying resale value is a concern and maintenance cost if electrical components break down is high.

I like the torque but I am worried about highway performance.. 98hp engine doesn't inspire a lot of confidence tongue.gif

errr.... I find it weird to compare.. we usually compare a SUV vs another SUV...

U need to know there's many diff between SUV and Sedan, and then u decide u want a sedan or suv ? then if sedan we compare another sedan..

if not, u can dan compare x50 vs honda city vs myvi, beza etc..

decide u want a suv or sedan ? then pick the comparison,as they are diff category.

your best feedback could be in their FB group. City has ton of problem. X50 still new, but if the quality on par with local build X70, then just keep your finger crossed.

I personally more inclined to Vios for less headache compare to city, but bit boring.

I see, how much is your monthly instalment now?

Felt like honda terbalik the rim for E and V spec. The previous gen, V spec always has the prettiest and dual tone rim now V spec only have the normal looking rim

Wind noise. Its the insulation. But I doubt the ride will be comfortable if you go beyond 120kmph - its a baby SUV after all.

Am surprised anyine still consider Honda after so much bad publicity on their quality.

After Honda Malaysia threaten one guy to take down his FB page, another one spring up for unresolved Honda issues.

Despite all these I still see many Honda recommendations in /k ?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the replies. Just test drove Honda City V today and I think it's still my first choice if X50 Flagship (with ADAS 2.0) didn't exist LOL. The engine still makes a bit of fuss when stepped pedal to the metal and instrument cluster a bit cheapo (look like Persona sad.gif ). But otherwise no complaints.. big boot space, roomy interior, good sound system for its price, lovely pedal shifters and sports mode and feels fast enough when required. I think it's the safe and reliable choice. Plus can get car within 1 or 2 mth instead of 6 or more month for X50 if you book today..

Haiyaaa, wish Proton quickly ramps up production and make X50 faster. Can wait 1 or 2 month but 6 month is kinda too much imo.

But seeing Hyundai Kona launch 1.6T with ADAS at 144k (152k next year), I think the X50 is still the B-segment crossover/SUV killer. If only the waiting time got cut and price was 5-figure, then probably best sales for 2021 haha.

Both are expensive >RM100k car.

I will say it depends which hyped you wanted to join/avoid.

On one hand X50 is offering SUV and L2 autonomous driving hype. On another hand City RS is like an EV.

Not sure how people can choose between City vs X50.

Two completely different types of cars.
*
I want to use it as only car for city + highway drive, either works as intended. I am comfortable with the ~RM100k price range and like the looks & packaging of both cars. Seen both on the road and both look great in white/red!

The difference is CityRS gives better fuel economy, Apple Carplay and potentially better handling from lower ride while X50 FS gives 1.5T GDi hp and torque, better safety/convenience suite (ADAS 2.0 including low speed follow, full 360 camera, BSM), and lastly pano sunroof.

Hope this clarifies.

Haha... you don't need to clarify anything.

These 2 vehicles are realistically in different categories. That's the reality.

How you decide what you want, that is up to you.

Just ask yourself, are you wanting/ready for driving an EV like vehicle, now?

You can practically treat RS as an EV, minus the charge your car part.

Which back to my very first suggestion, you wanted to join the SUV/high tech hype or the EV/smart vehicle hype.

Serious: why don't you consider Vios GR. CVT with 10-speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic

I think better than City V but lost on engine performance
*
Thanks for this smile.gif Just checked it out and it looks like a great car! However, I really value the ADAS suite (lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, low speed follow, etc) which somehow is omitted on the Vios GR.

As per title. This will be my first car and can't decide.. Plus points (not listed in order)

Honda City V:
+ More tried and tested
+ Probably lower maintenance cost
+ Android Auto and Apple Car Play
+ Spacious interior and boot
+ Paddle shifters
+ Higher resale value
+ Cheaper than X50 Flagship almost RM20k

X50 Flagship:
+ Latest ADAS technology, almost self driving, complete safety suite (360 camera, front sensor)
+ Pretty full-digital instrument cluster
+ Powerful engine and transmission, better power-weight ratio (177bhp to 1.3ton)
+ Newer model to Malaysia (less boring than 5th gen City)
+ Prettier exterior and interior (IMO)
+ Electronic park brake

What do you think? Please discuss and very much appreciated.

Also considered but not keen: Vios, Almera, Civic (outside budget)
*
Different class, compare apples to apples, orange to orange. Mini suv and saloon, topkek, if x50 and hrv and aruz, baru sama. Anyway poofag can choose X50, lol!

Unfortunately no, hence making life difficult. If got low speed follow (like Civic's Honda Sensing), confirm take cityRS. It has the lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control though.

X50 waiting time and parts availability is a big issue, don’t underestimate the importance of post-sale service.

Do you NEED a car now?

If not just wait and see. Don’t go for 1st batch of any car, normally those are horrible (unless CBU import from overseas like proton inspira that the 1st batch was imported from Japan, X70 first batch was imported from China).

Local assembly is always shit QC. They normally go to an acceptable level from 2nd batch onwards after people complain.

i dont think is gonna be much issue in terms of Quality control.

car manufacturer tolerance now is quite tight.

1 valid point is.....the parts availability. i heard some horrible story that until today...x70 spare parts is still very scarce.

First batch of cars are always the problematic ones if assembled in Malaysia la.

U don’t trust me go masuk the X50 group.

Now owners starting to complain on the QC part. U are only dreaming if u say car manufacturers tolerance now is quite tight.

First batch, always, avoid. Unless CBU.

Paddle shifters are naff, use for 2 minutes alrrady bored.
If can afford, better get RS. Less time spent at fuel pump and fuel price trending up.
X50 is knn ccb mcb ccp car that cannot get spare parts with low rez reverse camera.
