I'm creating this thread as a guide for those who are considering of getting a PSP at the moment and could not decide on which PSP to go for...like me tongue.gif

All I know about the new slim PSP is that its slimmer by a few mm, has TV-Out, and a new mainboard which may be hard to crack for all those copy gamers out there. Can anyone else share a light on this issue? Picking between slim or old PSP I mean.

New hardware features are as follows:

Comes with Firmware 3.60
Faster loading times by storing UMD data in temporary memory.
Internal memory (RAM) increase from 32 MB to 64 MB
Improved battery life due to lower power consumption, and battery recharge over the USB data connection. However the old, higher-capacity PSP battery will still be compatible and using it will give an increased battery life, but the battery cover will not close when using the old battery due to the larger size.
Weight is 33% lighter
Actual PSP is 19% slimmer
A video-out port for displaying on a TV.
Improved responsiveness of d-pad[1] and buttons, confirmed in the GameSpot "hands-on" review; "several GameSpot editors have noticed that the d-pad and buttons on the new PSP provide a little more tactile feedback for a better overall feel."[2]
WiFi switch moved to the top of the console.
New UMD loading tray design.
Removal of the infra-red port, which was ultimately not used on the original PSP.
Speakers repositioned on the front of the PSP near the top of the screen.
Different area to insert Memory Stick.

yes, they mentioned that it will have better control buttons...but it will be also much more expensive. Old PSP is selling for $169, new one is expected to be at $199...means the PSP can be around RM1000 compared to the current price of RM8XX sweat.gif

The thing for me is not really about the price, but to a certain extend, how long will it takes before PSP SLim can play homebrew games..

yes, but I remember Xbox 360's mod came out quite fast. Was any mod released for the PS3?

Dunno...I found another website saying PSP is RM169 but never mention slim version...
If its a packaged PSP then its definitely $199.
samurai20's Crisis Core is selling like hotcakes sweat.gif $290 I think....$100 more than usual

maybe these should help a bit...

its beginning to feel to me that the PSP slim is overrated. Only thing to really look forward to is the D-Pad upgrade. TV-Out won't be used that much since we're "on the go" with the PSP. Other upgrades doesn't seem interesting since technology is supposed to have advanced a lot...

later the slim psp juz like ps2(slim) cant play long hour it hang after play few hour....hehe jz my opinion...

it is possible...but very unlikely. If Sony says that it consumes less power this close to release - it will consume less power. Correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't there a compatible USB charger selling in shops? One of PSP slim's extra features whistling.gif

I don't think memory affects games to that extent...
Its just supposed to help load games faster. Old PSP models should still be able to play newer games with a little longer loading time.

btw...long time no see mindkiller6610 tongue.gif

guys, keep your conversations to the thread topic. No more rants about "conversations of the future" please. Its not that funny talking about something that might or is gonna be released but it is funny that you're still complaining about it. Phone, cars, PSP...its all the same. Stop whining already.

yes, WE now have a PSP...but this thread is for those who do not - as it is said on the topic. So WE don't compare...just let those who don't have speculate or whatever it is they wanna do to kill time while they dream for the PSP slim to start playing ahem games tongue.gif

and you do know how to say "some of us"...I for one do not molest every single electronic gadget there is in the world - does not mean that I cannot talk about it.

jeez, now we're talking about sex. I'm closing this thread. This is going outta control. Ask you to keep to PSP slim, but you talk about sex. Go to girls club already.

those who want info please look at the PSP beginner's thread. But be warned...snipersnake may start the "winner's sex" talk.
