Hi I'm currently using unblock gen 3 tv box which only support 2.4G wifi which max speed is around 100Mbps.

I want to be able to connect to my home 500Mb Maxis fiber. Is there a wifi adapter with dual band that I can install on my android tv box?

Lan cable can only goes up to 100Mbps too as most old tv box don't have gigabit port. Mine is still working great that's why I don't want to buy a new one if I can just get a wifi adapter to increase the speed through wifi.

What do you intend to stream that requires such bandwidth?

You need to know which wifi driver is supported on your box and you can't install the relevant driver.

Does your tvbox have usb3? If yes then you can find wifi adapter for usb3 that can support high speed. However, I have a feeling there will be other limitations with your old tvbox, like drivers issue and so on. BTW, 100mbps is more than enough for anything you throw at the tvbox. What are you actually trying to do?

what do you want to achieve, TS?

streaming 4K only require 30Mbps.. if I may recall correctly.

btw, how is it that 2.4GHz band can get 100Mbps?

u dont need up to 500mbps on ur box.. unless u are streaming 8K, 16K resolution.. if you are only streaming up to 4K, it should be sufficient with what your box can achieve right now

I only has usb 2. That's why I'm worry about the driver issue when I buy wif usb adapter.

I know I don't need more than 100mbps. Just want to make use of my 500mbps speed. Nothing in particular that I need to run on that speed. If I can buy RM40 dual band wifi adapter to increase the speed on my tv box, why not.
