How to claim money on behalf of parents that passed away?

Today my father-in-law received a cold call from a company offering to help him claim his Unclaimed Monies. They have all his details (name and IC) and the biggest unclaimed sum of RM65k.

When I checked online, he actually had 4 unclaimed items. The other 3 totaled RM200.

The company is asking for 16% (10% commission + 6% SST) to help him do the claim.

I wonder how they are getting the info. Are they just checking ICs at random?

Did you find out the procedure for joint accounts?

Did you check both old and new IC?

No, not yet. Havent got time to explore it.

Yes, I did. For my FIL, his all under new IC. My MIL, the reverse, all under the old IC.

Sorry, I may have read your post wrongly. You mean your FIL have 4 unclaim items, one of it is 65k and the other 3 total RM200?

From my experience, Draf is the first status in the unclaimed money application flow when I click to proceed.
After I had submitted the necessary mandatory documents such as MyKad front/back and bank statement, a new status is added - VERIFY DOCUMENT 1, together with an acknowledgement email from eGumis. All this within minutes of starting the claimed process.

A few days later, the VERIFY DOCUMENT 1 is tagged with additional description TELAH DI SEMAK.
After 10 days from the start process, an additional status is added - VERIFY DOCUMENT 2.
Two day later, got an additional status - NEW. Received an email saying that ..

Tuan/Puan
Proses pengesahan dokumen sokongan yang dimuat naik telah berjaya.
Permohonan tuntutan bayaran balik WTD Tuan/Puan sedang diproses.
Proses bayaran akan dilaksanakan dalam tempoh 30 hari bekerja daripada tarikh notifikasi pengesahan ini.

Now waiting for my money.

Look to me, you may not upload all the necessary documents to eGUMIS as your status is still DERAF/DRAFT

Yeah, that's why if couple hundred bucks can just leave it to the gov

but I heard recently banks can do on behalf of you (submission to bank branches?), not sure if it applies to deceased parents though..

I believe so. Just key in random IC, and random IC is not hard to find given how much data leaks we already have gone through. My take is do it yourself, unless you have reasons to let them earn.

I think that's quite a normal procedure when claiming on behalf of deceased loved one.

Depends on your luck really. I received mine in 3 weeks time after "Baharu" status, but my dad which I helped got his after 5 weeks.

Still waiting. Been 4 weeks +

Edit: Just received email from p2-emaklum_ag@anm.gov.my informing my unclaimed money crediting instruction had been issued
