Can all gurus recommend?

called to ViewQwest for information. they sound quite good with no upfront and 1st bill will only shows for monthly payment without any installation fee. but need to wait for 1 week for arrangement.

I tried ViewQwest, much better, low ping among ISP in Malaysia, Static IPv4,

most importantly, NO FUP

Do viewqwest. On it for more than 3months now. No downtime, no slowdowns. Not to forget super low ping.

I just had a customer who using ViewQwest at their home, I was there for upgrading his router, so
What I observe:

1. Lowest ping
Since they don't do any FUP or Filtering, the internet packet travel faster

2. Symmetrical Speed
Just like TIME, same speed is very good practice most ISP

3. Static Public IPv4
Since no FUP, You can host CCTV, website, game server, become host in P2P Gaming! without worrying IP Address changed.

4. P2P is supported!
I test BitTorrent using qBitTorrent, very quick to find peer and seed, also very quick Full Speed compared with Unifi and Maxis

5. No PPPoE
They dont use PPPoE, you will get pure 1500 bytes of MTU! IP Address can obtain via DHCP or set Static IP, they authenticate via MAC Address, they will match Router MAC Address and ONT

This what I saw and do at customer home.

For gamer, you will have the most lowest ping in Malaysia, to Singapore just 5ms! near to LAN party latency,

Malaysia LAND, WATER, ELECTRICITY, is cheap compared to Singapore, but Internet wayyy more expansive, this very reasons many big company prefer Singapore, well.

My Advance when you subscribe, ask technician:
1. Your ONT GPON PLOAM Password
Just in case your ONT/ONU dead, you can buy 3rd party which is cheap, you can quickly replace.

2. Your VLAN ID
Get your VLAN ID for specific place, since every place is different

3. Your Public IP Address or PPPoE
They kind of mixed, just ask them to write down, easy to place router in the future

some place they using ALL in One, Fiber + Router + Wireless, ask tech set as Bridge on the ONT and use own Router

Im running mine on tm backbone. So naturally it need to be on vlan and pppoe. Other than that, 0 downtime so far. 0 slowdowns. And best of all 0 filtering. I learned everyone on unifi and maxis are still filtered in "certain" sites.

As you running on TM Unifi backbone(me too), did you change your TM modem (ONU/BTU)and router to viewQwset modem and router?

Do you get the VLAN ID and PPPoE username and passwords for the installer?

if i had the BTU modem pws, can i just simply change my btu modem with a new one i bought? how the procedure?

I staying in a landed house, so my fiber cable is direct from port to my house modem(btu),i mostly use LAN cable for PC & TV BOX, once a while WIFI(handphone), in this case, do you think i have to get the VLAN ID?
cause i not sure how this VLAN ID work?can tell me more about it?

3.3. Your Public IP Address or PPPoE
as ads, this ISP provide static Dynamic IP, but will ask for it also, including PPPoE username and passwords.

Yes tm onu. Vlan is on 624, pppoe is different from tm ofcourse.

Yes, its one of the condition they made vq to obey.

technically, they are partner with Ohana of which is incumbent TM HSBA provider, even vlan is same as Ohana last time

and then, under TM infra, they woudn't change the ONU( use back Unifi modem),
if BTU modem or line problem > look for TM Unifi technician
if Router problem > look for viewQwest technician.

Any plans for ViewQWest to come to Ipoh under TM HSBB and Allo?

My Maxis Home Fibre contract is due for expiry.Looking for plans under RM100/mth with less than 2 years contract.
Not interested in a home voice fixed line but an updated speed package.

Outside TM HSBB fibre coverage, VQ has very limited areas which they run their own network.

There's Bangsar South(Kerinchi), Setia development projects close by Cyberjaya as well as a few handful of condominiums in JB which they lease TNB's Allo fibre all for themselves so headend equipments such as OLT switches are by themselves that's why they'll supply their own fibre modem(ONTs) units to customers who are lucky to be on their independent network.

If you're that lucky to be on their standalone fibre network fully managed by VQ, then everything's good. No need VLAN, no need to pass through TM's overcongested edge routers and even use PPPoE accounts.Direct fixed DHCP assignment.

You can find these areas directly at their coverage section on their website.

VQ still have no FUP, IPV4 etc still remain, got asus zenwifi mini, anyway its up to your choice

though, for vq, the shorter the contract period, the more expensive per month, but atleast they got option for contract period

Allo is available now in Ipoh. There's also V Telecoms which has now a datacentre based at Meru township which serves hotels upto 1Gbps.

Under tm. I think mine is 99 when they had earlier promo. No change onu, dont think onu matters too much tho. I changed isp from unifi, to maxis to viewqwest. They all using the same onu and that never failed. Yes vq infra is a lot cheaper and offer better customer service, if i ever interested in one of their high rise units, i wouldve moved there. Im not being biased, but for the past years i subbed to unifi, maxis and vq. Only vq really give u a proper satisfaction. My brother is using time at his house and still connect to my wireguard server to play online with his friends in europe and usa. Just saying.

VQ doesn't lay their own dark fibre cables, most of them are leased directly from TNB Allo for their own exclusive last mile use which means most of their premium coverage in Bangsar South, Cyberjaya and JB exclusive condo projects are already under TNB fibre infra but hooking up VQ's own OLT switching active equipments and supplying their own ONTs(fibre modems).

Remember that Allo says they're expanding in JB last time? They've already made their presence there.

Places like Icon City, Setia Eco Glades, Austine Suite, Setia Sky 88, and Suasana Iskandar in JB.

TNB Allo's City Broadband was actually Setia Haruman ISP before it was bought over. Also its HQ was previously at Bangsar South before moving to Cyberjaya.

So yeah Setia Haruman (now known as Allo Technology) has connection with VQ in Malaysia.

Yea the installer said tm made them obey the pppoe over vlan rule. I would love to have it work over dhcp. But i dont see any major downside anyway, so im okay with that.

Well unless you're lucky enough to be under their exclusive coverage where the headend equipments is owned by VQ all for themselves(full Layer 2 control over physical/link network access) such as Time Fibre network, they'll have to follow the wholesale network provider which they ride on and even lease their CPE(fibre modem/ONT) for port access on the customers end.

That is why Time refused to join TM's HSBB until today. TNB's Allo is also following the same wholesale model which TM HSBB is based on Layer 3 wholesale. All partner ISPs who shares the same network has to use the wholesale provider's access switching equipment for last mile right up the to terminating CPE at customer's end.

PPPoE are very inefficient for long term high speed to begin with, okay with < 1Gbps throughput but not more it cause more CPU power and single threaded only and increase CPE cost to cope such high speed. Plus PPPoE will increase overhead waste. PPPoE likely stuck at 2.45 Gbps (One Way)!

I can guest that TM Unifi/TNB Allo wanted to prevent OMCI Hacking, that remove ONU Bandwidth Control gain full link speed, so L3 Bandwidth Control is logical and easy. There ONU sold have hacked /bin/gpon_omci that cause Full Link speed.

Having Full Layer 2 Internet is bless! not to worry about inefficient

If the ISP is really serious and has full control over Layer 2 access for itself, they won't be selling expensive <100M plans today. All opened up no more speed plans for GPON. All getting 1Gbps. That way it makes no sense in hacking the line as everyone gets to buy their own hardware and just use the ISP's supplied GPON tranceiver to plug into the SFP/SFP+ port to configure their own just like in Japan and Switzerland.

Don't know why they die die want to monetize the whole idea and implement Buffer Bloat and make the GPON line operate unnaturally as it was supposedly designed.
