You can go for older model premium models, like the 2018 Xperia. Still works fine but with older android version which is not that bad.

i think you can get rm100 phones, maybe xiaomi note 4 series?
if necessary just swap the battery and you are good to go.

I read no whatsapp calling, though. And also, with 512mb ram, big groups will likely lag much.

You could probably get some used android phone for even cheaper.

Forget the Nokia 3310 feature phone / KaiOS phone. Damn hard to use the whatsapp with T9 keyboard.

There's another free solution, install a second WhatsApp on your phone with an app cloner app like Parallel Space. Free, no need to buy 2nd phone.

I'm using redmi 9A as my work phone. Just use it to WhatsApp. Bought it when it was launched around August at rm300. I think the price would have reduced ady by now.
