QUOTE(Mr.Lonely @ Nov 19 2007, 01:03 AM) Yup, I'm the one who *gulp* want to sell the phone but in the end decided to keep it (in the 8GB version thread). Apart from the non official firmware/software/content, now every single thing worked as expected. Well, absolutely NO COMPLAINT, to be accurate. Navigating within menus and switching apps is really quick and snappy, of course some bigger ones like opening gallery and waiting the 5MP pictures to load takes more time, but overall, nothing considered "waiting". Loading the map/GPS is also very fast, within 5 secs which is average to me. Also, no hanging so far when working with just the phone. I've experienced hanging and restarts when dealing with the cable+PC suite, not that it's bad, it's just that I'm abusing it (copying contact/files while browsing GPS/map, anyone?). About the 8GB memory and no card slots, well let me tell you, when the hell you need 8GB? I prefer to watch movies and listen music at home. Reserve your 8GB for photo and video shooting, you'll need them. I think 8GB is a very nice number, you certainly won't need more or (the point is) you'll be paying more. However, more is always good, not now at the very least due to the cost of the memory chips. I always dreaming how much capacity a memory can reach in the future so I can buy a big one later and use the small one now. No, you'll probably have to deal with firmware, and not always the phone can handle large capacity cards correctly. So, built in, big memory, hassle free. Why not? There seems to be no "remove hardware" for the USB connection (like you would before you unplug your thumb drive), unplugging the cable straight away scared me a little as I have had so many stupid problems with USB cased harddisk drive. So, in the end, to summarize everything up, this is "THE PHONE". Seriously, you couldn't really ask for more at this point, the balance within battery and functions are just nice. And lastly, the black color looks way more classy than you'll think, and I LOVE it... |

i've been to pavilion today, and visited the nokia store. I've played around with the N95 unit, i was so suprised with the slider, when the slider in the middle position and pressed on the edge, you can press down 0.5mm further! The new 8gb version should be solid and won't move when you pressed down (at least mine does).
So you can go pavilion nokia store to have a feel on the N95 first before you commit. Since the 8gb came out i strongly recommend save more money to get the 8gb instead. However i hope it was just the test unit being unhealthy. This post has been edited by pigcat: Nov 21 2007, 11:18 PM |

QUOTE(slingswish @ Nov 30 2007, 02:19 AM) With the new firmware I think both the classic and 8GB more or less the same, with different hardware spec only like battery/RAM/screen/8GB internal memory etc. So there's no point flash to the 8GB OS, even if you do there's high chance the OS will not function properly. |

QUOTE(RokXIII @ Nov 30 2007, 11:58 AM) because N95 8GB has increase the memory to 128MB(in terms of hardware), is not like N95 updated to the latest firmware which installed "on demand paging" to save more memory. So, N95 8GB might able to do multitask but N95 can't.... Classic N95 also can multitask (my E70 also can), it's just that with little free RAM multitasking will be PITA, while the larger 128MB RAM can handle basically anything you can squeeze out of the phone. N95 classic user might caught into problem like out of memory error while doing web surfing + music playing + serveral realtime app running.Correct me if i'm wrong. |

QUOTE(blaz3 @ Dec 7 2007, 01:42 AM) A friend of mine offers a "Kastam rampas" N95 for RM1000. Should i go for for it? I haven't look at the product yet but if anyone have any advice what to look for or check if it is ori or not? Better not...Phone is something that can be easily conned...If you don't check properly, NOKLA can look really alike as the NOKIA...Search NOKLA on youtube and you'll know...thanks in advance Rule of thumb, get at least an AP set if you're not too keen on checking the phone if it's realdeal, or best stick to authorized set. QUOTE(ivanau88 @ Dec 7 2007, 10:18 AM) hi...erm..i am going to get this phone d....but i am still stuck in getting an ap set or csl set...which waranty will be better ar... There's a thread pinned on the Handphones and Communications section, read more on it.wat is the things that i should be careful of if i am given a shui kei(water set)? For AP, there're a lot more things to work on like checking the firmware, battery, accessory etc etc...AP warranty is not so trusted...I also bought AP set but I virtually treat it as no warranty set... Also, you might not like the operator logo printed extra on the phones like Vodafone, TIM, etc etc... |

QUOTE(Putraskyline @ Dec 7 2007, 07:35 PM) Yup no USB port but for those who like imaging device so much, they should go N82.But my N95 look more exclusive since using slider technology. After checking the spec, N82 uses an even smaller USB port called MicroUSB. Still no charging through USB, though. Perhaps like SE phones, charging through USB seems not stable and enough power... |

QUOTE(ivanau88 @ Dec 8 2007, 10:13 PM) CSL is one of the AP. AP basically means approved by SIRIM but not supported by authorized distributor (for Nokia they're Avaxx, Zitron and I think one more but definitely not CSL).So, CSL is still AP ler...But not too bad la, maybe RM50~RM80 extra you paid compared to others... QUOTE(VpowerZone @ Dec 11 2007, 12:07 AM) I have set the camera setting in user defined but each time when start camera, i have to switch to it from auto, which i find it quite troublesome... Not much, but here we go:can anyone share the camera setting u r using for best pic? Thanks 1. Switch off flash for auto mode for general shooting (duh!) 2. Switch off flash for close up mode for close up (duuuuuuh!!) 3. Switch white balance to sunny when taking flash photo at low light. I find this extremely useful to counter the blue'ish flash photos... 4. If really want to capture a room with total darkness with max brightness, switch to night mode and enable flash (keh keh keh...don't shake your hand!!) |

QUOTE(ivanau88 @ Dec 12 2007, 10:41 PM) is not really buzz all the way..but it usually buzz when i made calls and i realize than whenever i use the phone it will also buzz... Could be the matter of the hardware. If operator problem then you can try use your friend's sim card and see. I would suspect it's a hardware loosen or something cause software normally won't do this unless it's the network problem. |

QUOTE(RokXIII @ Dec 13 2007, 02:40 PM) Guys, how to determine whether the headset that come along with the phone is faulty? Coz seems like mine one got problem already, even I can listen to the music through the headset, but the buttons(play, stop, forward, previous) can't function well. When I click it, no response at all... Kekeke, it's not a bug, it's the behaviour. You have to insert it *fully* before the prompt of enhancement menu, means insert it quick quick lo. And, you have to fully insert it, means push it deep end until cannot push somemore (of course don't use too much force!). I know we all sayang the 3.5mm connector but no if you want to use then have to do it.Also if you scare spoil the 3.5mm connector, watch this, it's very easily replaceable (by no means you can do it yourself, just no need to solder). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOqtkIERl4U This post has been edited by pigcat: Dec 13 2007, 02:49 PM |

QUOTE(RokXIII @ Dec 13 2007, 04:35 PM) use for almost half year... There's a guide I read a while back, I think it's discussed at nokia forum. Maybe google a bit? Or I think Nokia people can do it for you maybe at a charge, it's more recommended cause opening the remote control is a bit tricky cause you might break the spring where the screw is actually underneath so you need to take out. Why Nokia always want to come out with a perfect device with so many minor minor flaws... then, how do I change the battery inside? Mine one is Zitron set from Singapore, can go seek help from local Nokia Service Center? |
