guess 013 to 014 is a minor upgrade... maybe wait the next firmware update? or maybe our keypad become insensitive d?
*
Yeah, I do think its a minor upgrade. There's one thing I would like Nokia to fix. The camera shutter release button. The button features a 2-step press so that you can half-press to focus and then a further press would release the shutter. It seems that this button is extremely easy to be half-pressed, accidentally waking up the phone during standby where the LCD is shut-off.

Not sure if it is affecting battery life performance but I would like the phone to keep on standby with LCD off as long as possible when I'm not using it. Maybe they could fix this by ignoring the button during standby? Maybe...

i think VGA is more advance then QVGA.
*
Agree. VGA resolution is 640x480 while QVGA resolution is 320x240. 50% lower resolution with the same aspect ratio. Then again it doesn't mean you get lower picture quality on the K850i. Lower resolution doesn't always mean lower quality (but first resolution must be at a sufficient level for this to hold any ground, depending on screen size and distance from viewing). If you plan to playback videos mainly on the K850i's screen with a native resolution of 320x240, then the QVGA recording will be just nice. The 30fps frame rate is what matters. You'll get a smoother playback with higher frame rate. Playback on the N95 with a VGA recorded video will be just as nice. Of course with the higher resolution smacked onto its 320x240 LCD, pixels will be densely pack so you might get perception of a little more detail. Maybe thats why Nokia advertised the N95 with 'DVD-like playback'.

If you want to playback the recorded video to an external display device like a TV, monitor screen or forward as an email attachment, the QVGA source will be smaller than the VGA one. Thats when the VGA recorded video will stand out. Basically QVGA is a little small for internet sharing. I think Youtube is using 640x480 resolutions.

N95 Has QVGA Screen But Can Record Video At VGA Resolution...
Actually, The GPS Locking Speed Is Already Very Fast (Less Than 15 Secs Every Time) With A-GPS Enabled In 12.0.013..
*
I heard that the new firmware at 12.0.014 improves the GPS locking speed.

Anyway I'm sorry if my post didn't indicate clearly that N95 is indeed a QVGA screen. Actually at 2.6", it really could do better with a higher resolution. But I doubt Nokia will go 640x480 anytime soon since manufacturers are beginning to catch to the 320x240 standard. Even PDA phones with 2.6 - 2.8" LCD are at 320x240. Maybe its limited by the Windows Mobile OS or something.

Plus, it'll not be very kind with the battery consumption. Something that reminds of N80's drawbacks when it comes to its very dense pixel density. Maybe Nokia compensated the design objectives to raise the bar by going 16 millions colors (either through color dithering or other methods).

Does anyone know what app do I need to play rmvb file type on N95?

I'm not sure the onboard RealPlayer software can do it but RMVB is actually a real format right? Anyway, most people would recommend using Nokia Video Manager to do the transcoding to MP4 format. Do check if the Nokia Video Manager support RMVB first.

tried both methods but dont work

Hit the Google and search for RMVB to MP4 converter and you'll get some choices. I think this should work then. Not all of them are freeware though so choose wisely.

I think its better to judge the battery consumption after few rounds of charge and discharge cycles. Usually it'll take a few rounds before the battery pack performs the best. When I got my phone, it took about 1 day before the battery runs dry. Maybe also because that was the time we explore our new phones so a lot of energy is used up.

After few rounds of charge and discharge cycles things improve to a point like everybody else - 2 days with (typical) moderate use. If I'm off to an unknown location for work purposes, a lot of GPS usage would drain it till 3 bars at the end of the day.

So if you don't need to use GPS that often, keep it off. Also switch the WiFi discovery OFF. Its ON by default when I got my phone. Like any other devices, using WiFi for browsing will drain the battery very fast especially when the signal level is not optimum.

Regarding the firmware upgrading, some people recommend hard reseting the phone to factory defaults and then perform the firmware upgrading. Then re-apply your backups manually, like reinstalling the programs whatsoever.
