try GMXT for few days. here's my opinion:
1. very sensitive (accurate in some manner), that's why rotating it when u stop at junction will cause u to drive backway or sideway lol
2. quite slow to lock, probably due to above reason
3. software kinda sluggish compare to nokia2go and mapking
4. searching is a pain in da @$$
5. kinda free if u know where to get the map (free map)
6. use google.com

@chicaman
u should be able to browse the map without GPS device.

after updated with the new firmware, i didnt notice any improvement in term of overall speed but:

1. bootup time increased a lot.

2. BATTERY LIFE!! with just 2 bars left, i basically keep keypad and mess with the menu for more than 3.5 hrs. it still running O_O
battery life really improved.

why those "office", "connect", etc stuck inside folder? why oh why it cant be moved to ROOT folder....

overall, i really like this firmware. but the annoying shutter sound still intact vmad.gif

Changes i notice:

PROS:
1. Battery life. it's not 30% increase mad.gif IMHO, it's 80% or even 100% ohmy.gif under heavy usage, i notice a lot of improvement. one last bar of battery can last whole night from 11+pm, till 7+am. from 7+am, i played music via headphone and online via WiFi for 45mins till battery dead brows.gif

2. New music player. 4 or 5 different scroll speed, little GUI improvement, new visualization

3. Extremely FAST bootup. mine average 18.3sec from OFF to Nokia Hand Animation (can be skipped, like usual)

4. More RAM. initially 30.3MB but after used for a while, dropped to 25-26MB. still good IMHO

5. Hissing background sound in music significantly reduced, at least on my unit. thumbup.gif

6. Search 4.0 preinstalled. actually it's a powerful software. once u know how to use it, it's very convenient

7. Video ringtone enabled

8. No more keypress bug

9. When slide to multimedia key, no more Multimedia Menu pop up thumbup.gif

10. Camera startup very fast. average 2.3sec on my unit. shoot to shoot time faster too. Picture quality IMHO still same, albeit softer (less sharpening and noise)

CONS:
1. New menu layout not to my taste. i hate subfolders...

2. In music player, u cant add songs in Recently Added playlist to ur playlist. crap.

3. damn camera focus lock and shutter sound still cant be turned off vmad.gif

4. some bugs with wallpaper

5. N-Gage waste of memory space and time...

6. USB speed still slow as usual. hardware limitation?

the wallpaper bug i only encounter with ActiveFile, white bar at the bottom. not annoying though, just distracting

with new menu layout, Office and Media folder stuck under Application folder. usually i put those two on ROOT

i use camera in library as portable scanner since it is very capable. have to stick with cCam for now.

@goliath
try nokia Nseries v4 black theme, the one on N95 8GB thumbup.gif

shocking.gif do u know what it meant by reformat?

use data recovery software programmed specifically for flash memory. in the meant time, DO NOT access the card

why wanna turn off a-gps?

because A-GPS use GPRS/EDGE/data package, which depleted your $$$. not much though, few kilobytes only, in my case.
