Finally i made my decision to buy this TV after become silent reader in this forum. Purchased from LZD during 9/9 sale, 55" for rm2800.

My first impression was WOW. For the price I paid, definitely this TV can wow anyone.

I made comparison with my Sony TV X9000H 65" and its performance is very very close!

Wow. Nice comparison bro! Good to know how this tv fares with others, esp hot model like the x90h biggrin.gif

Yup I was so surprised how the differences were so minimal. For Netflix, Youtube, Prime Videos & Apple TV - I give 9.5/10. But for ASTRO, the upscaling is mediocre, so I just can give 7/10. Watching live football 4K on Astro is better on X9000H - maybe because of the motion engine in Sony is much much powerful.

Overall, the TCL is awesome TV with the price and spec it deliver. My wish is TCL can provide firmware update that can improve on motion handling.

Which firmware is now in your TV?
All firmwares is also posted here.....latest is V8-R851T02-LF1V653.019203 or in short V653.

Waiting for Auto update ,usually taking months.....

I have locally update to V650 using USB method that you've shared. Previously the stock firmware was V634 - this one the UI very sluggish and annoying.

If upgrade firmware V653, is the motion handling better? Thanks

TCL C716 don't have MEMC, so motion clarity can be only enabled (Clear LED motion disabled).
Did you ever clear cache data in storage and restart TV ?
"ResetAll" and "Reset shop" in Service menu?
Also ,
System optimize in TV Guard or icon on top, disabled or uninstall unused factory apps, etc,etc....

Edit:
For Astro, be sure you have good HDMI cable (and set HDMI ON in setting, default is Auto).
I have no complain ,mostly channels is HD and only 780 is UHD.
Can see some pic posted earlier in this thread.

Thanks for tips on clear cache. Yes i do it quite frequent while switching apps. I guess it help to clear up the RAM of the TV.

I decided to not connect this TV to Astro due to its mediocre upscaling ability. In this case the Sony X9000H has better advantage on upscaling HD channel to a better almost-4K quality feed (im not exaggerating, X9000H is definitely a different class for normal FALD non-OLED TV)

Anyone experience connect this TV to Apple TV 4K Box? Does it has better motion handling when watching Netflix/Youtube from Apple TV Box? Thanks in advance.

TV USB input is v2.0, so USB pendrive or portable drive should be also same and formatted to FAT32 or NTSF.
Once you inserted, should get notification on TV.
After this open local Media player (or other installed players apps, as VLC, etc), tap on USB and choose your video files.

I am guessing 3.5 to 3.6k... Then maybe it's more worth to add little more for sony x90j with picture enhanced and 120hz panel... and also can buy additional 3 years warranty...  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

If you have budget for Sony X90J, it is no brainer to choose Sony instead of TCL.

Many will dislike my comment but in no universe TCL can beat Sony’s Bravia XR Picture processing.

For your case, you only consider TCL as your 2nd TV at home for cheaper alternative.

I have both Sony 65” X9000H and TCL 55” C716. I only use my TCL for my casual viewing while WFH.

Aeon Big is currently running promo for LG OLED CX55 (2020 model) for RM5,700 till 31/10. I am stretching my budget quite a bit with this OLED…

Currently I am also looking at Sony X90J as the price drop to 4.2K.

As I never owned an OLED before, any sound and quick advise would be appreciated.

If you have budget for OLED or Full Array Local Dimming LEDs, then just go for it. Of course I’m biased to Sony X90J due to my current experience on X90H.

I dont have experience on OLED tv so I cant be sure on any of its issue.

The only thing I can advise is 55” is small. Just go for 65” or bigger if your budget permits.

A bit funny we’re talking about TVs thats not related to this channel though.
