What do you guys use for telemetry? I've tried installing Motec and some others but find it very confusing. Nothing new seemed to have appeared in the rfactor menus. Ctrl M seems to kick in data acquisition but where is that data and how to look at it???

I need something easy to install and easy to use that doesn't require quitting rFactor to look at the data.

check the thread.. i have no idea how to explain it doh.gif

Regarding RPM adjustment/Boost
http://www.fsone.us/setup.htm

QUOTE
Q: Why does my engine keeps blowing up, without warning, when I use boost. How do I make my engines last the whole race? Does damage multiplier setting in servers cause this problem?

A: Well first off we don't call our game boost. We just use it as an RPM changer. Your engine could die without warning for a number of reasons. Engine RPM changer, say setting 10 usually will not last the whole race. This is run at about 20500 RPM (v1.8), and is subjected to be pushing your engine to the maximum limit. This also depends on the track. We have found that engine RPM changer set at 10 lasted the whole race on monza, but on belgium only engine RPM changer set on 8 lasted the whole race. This also depends on the driving style, gear ratios, engine brake map (5 default) and server damage multiplier setting. For leagues and server administrator, you should set your servers damage multiplier accordenly to match race length.

For example:

Races set on 100 percent Length should use Damage multiplier 0%
Races set on 75 percent Length should use Damage multiplier 25%
Races set on 50 percent Length should use Damage multiplier 50%
Races set on 25 percent Length should use Damage multiplier 75%

and so on. So making your engine last with the correct server setting, takes nothing more then practicing full race before hand. Drive Conservative at times, and push your rpm changer to near the max when you need to. Remember to time things.

For example:

I find that i can drive a whole race with only engine rpm changer (boost) set on 8. So during the race when no one is around me or on safety laps, i tend to drive with boost 1-5. When I'm in battle and need extra speed i go over the edge a bit and use boost 9 - 10 for couple laps then go back to my safe zone, boost 8. This just one planning way of going about things. Use your imagination.

i don't know damage multiplier can affect wear and tear sweat.gif

Acid...of course it affects wear n tear...try damage 0 offline, no tyre wear and consistent lap times all around!

About the damage percentage, it only applies to 1.8.
*
I see.. never try that b'coz when offline i pressed the magic "invulnerabilty" button so that i can rip other cars apart biggrin.gif

1.8 and 1.7 engine and tyre are similar
