Guys. Need recommendation. My condo 1200sqft. 1 room got dead zone. Router in hall. Should I just get 1 pack mesh unit to cover 1200 sqft or still need 2 pack mesh unit to cover my house? Or should just get repeater?

get this Asus RT-AC88U Router

Try repeater 1st.

This mesh can cover 6000sqft 3 pack.
So by right 1 can cover 2000sqft

pls dont be bothered with repeater

I used tp link deco m4. Got 80-90mpbs upstairs. Downstairs full speed 100mbps

to be frank , tp link is much a wiser choice rather than tenda

based on my experience

but as I said, u get what you paid for

how about dlink? this one in my black book for now

Some Tenda model they copy one to one Asus router like old huawei network equipment copy cisco cisco. It's funny that you can flash Asus firmware for higher performance. But I don't think they get the source code as some functionality that available in the original Asus router are not available in Tenda copied model.

For best budget router I think it's between Tenda and tp link. D-Link is slightly more expensive. Initially I want to buy Tenda, but when I check their Malaysian version so expensive compared to indon and pinoy price it's turn me off. Their china firmware is super duper cheap but can't change vlan id to make it unifi compatible, only can be used as an access point

blacktubi mentioned it somewhere in here before about tenda hardware

for budget asus router you can read about RT-AC66U - it is under rm400 in shopee/lazada

https://www.asus.com/my/Networking/RTAC66U/

but if you want future proof, get the asus router that supports aimesh. in case in the future u wanna upgrade to ax router.

one thing I like about asus aimesh system, is this.

unlike tp-link mesh system

btw the cheapest AX router for asus is rt-ax56u which is less than rm500 now

router cannot beat mesh. Mesh is so much better in dead spots. Best is put mesh as primary router and retire the current router.
*
Mesh is a feature. like asus router some of them comes with mesh capabilities

the less than rm500 asus RT-AC68U is one example when after receiving latest firmware update can use the mesh features

less than 12 mths router performance mati.
sometimes can connect to unifi sometimes cant, i screw tmnut kau kau tat time, technician come check and said LU router rosak lah, i malu betul,  bring to the seller, seller bukan technical part faulty, cant claim warranty.  vmad.gif  ranting.gif but tat was many years ago, not mistaken its the 10/30mbps unifi era.

I had a brief experience with tenda product before ( used it for some projects )- like u the router konk within warranty period, had to go down to pj their HQ for a check. their customer service is good, apparently got some problems with the firmware, they refreshed it with their latest patch, then it works again.

sold it and told myself I shall stick with asus. no dlink no tenda.
