You need to record the noise and post it here, sometimes it's just the actuator keep moving because read write operation, google for hdd sound lool...

7200rpm hdd will have grinding noise, what do you expect from mechanical hdd?

hdd with loud grinding sound is head crash, the actuator is grinding the disk, scratching the magnetic coating off the disk surface,
and your hdd will not working.
