hmmm.....havent really decided what to do yet, might turn out to be another worklog, which i'll build a new casing from scratch with all the cool displays and cooling mods as well laugh.gif

anyway, i've modded some of the cooling heatsinks on my naked rig i'm using

- cut, chop and installed a low profile, Cool Jag 1U (K7) heatsink on my hot NF4 chipset
- mod XP-90C on X1900XTX
- mod and installed a heatsink on CPU

the X1900XTX i'm using is really really hot even with the ICEQ3 (if not mistaken).....the temperature will shoot up to 70-80°C easily during gaming.......so got to do something about it......

then comes the huge heatsink in the middle (try to guess what heatsink is that) laugh.gif

so finally i decided to transfer the XP-90C from the CPU to GPU after i've assembled the heatsink in the middle....

so enjoy the pics.......fabricated the acrylic bracket to hold down the heatsink to the graphics card firmly.....

the heatsink is more than 590g with fan....it's really really heavy.... laugh.gif

just compare the size of the heatsink !

just imagine those high end cards are capable of generating heat like a processor and yet the heatsink size is so small.......... doh.gif

below that row of heatsink is the VRM of the card.....gets hot easily.....
do you think that the heatsinks on the rams and VRMs are all copper ??

think again !! they're not !!
just normal aluminum coated in copper-like colour doh.gif

that area must be active cooled somehow, so i've thought of mounting a 60mm NMB to blow on that part.....perhaps add some blings thumbup.gif

size comparison between 92mm and 60mm........the 92mm is really nasty isnt it ?

moving on to the NF4 chipset cooler.....a chunk of copper heatsink got victimized by me.....
trimmed a corner as well as reduced a section of the heatsink to prevent contact with the components on board.....

this heatsink is actually the CoolerMaster Gemin II heatsink......i sort of removed the bracket of the heatsink to fit in on my board because the socket orientation isnt gonna suit my setup.....

the actual size of the heatsink is just exactly the size of 2pcs of 92mm together.......quite impressive heatsink i'd say.....able to run fanless on a naked rig below 43°C on my opty 146

the rams area will be fitted with custom made ram coolers as well as some minor lightings....

as you can see in the picture, the heatsink is really restrictive to the graphics card and chipset area.....my original plan was to stick a Hyper TX (AMD) onto my chipset......but unfortunately, there are no space left at the chipset area....so too bad.......wanna show off to those guys using Noctua U6 but didnt have the opportunity to do so cry.gif

the heatpipe lies directly on top of the PCI slots, just around 2mm of clearance.....just imagine how IFX-14 on 8800Ultra will look like laugh.gif

this is what i call as a really close one....too close to be safe.....and i had not really measured when i bought that heatsink.....

just 1 or 2mm and the fins will be touching the rear bracket of the graphics card doh.gif

the in the heatsink can fit a 40mm fan with 20mm thickness, i've tried it and it lowers the load temperature by around 2°C.......aha tongue.gif

shots taken from the top.....kinda scary to look at huge chunks of metal and copper on electronics stuff isnt it ?

wokies........how to put this......got something really interesting here.....

this is a 10.4" LCD running on 12V DC, it has got multiple channel inputs such as S-VIDEO and VGA......and a touch screen in front (but not gonna use)

right now still thinking how to implement this screen to my new casing (perhaps)

might wire it up to ASTRO and a few webcams (aiming at the pool area tongue.gif ) so can switch channel between ASTRO, webcams, VGA icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

i dint check the temperature before i modded, but right now on full load it's just near to 50°C.......

and the rams as well as the VRM area is not actively cooled as well....

just imagine how cool your card will be if the cooling system is as effective as the normal cpu cooler would perform wink.gif
