Do we need authorities approval if I plan to expand a small piece of land just opposite my house for my carpark use?

If yes, who and how do I get permission?
Is there any other things I should know dealing with this?

I’m not familiar with this kind of stuff

do you own the land? you need the title just for submission. a portal shed is not a permanent structure so it should b a simple application

Approval are normally not granted for such request .... this is a public space and building one deprived others from parking there.

Those you saw are illegally constructed and the authority can instruct them to remove if there are complains from neighbours or they can come to tear it down without giving notice.

Opposite of house?
It's vacant land izziit? Since yours the last row of the Taman? Seen many do like structure for parking...

And I think it's illegal build...
Because Local council won't approve it... Public space or some reserve land...

Opposite of house, yes
Too small to be a reserve land, just a few meters area
Some of my neighbours did plantation on that

That’s bad, we don’t have spaces to park cars anymore
Neighbours doing plantations on that land tho, means I can sue them for using public land? Jk

Well some people, esp master race they dont care. They will just set up whatever they want. I have a relative in Taman Ehsan kepong.. i shake my head when i go visit them. The entire row in front of a padang, is taken over by master race, for their private parking. Luckily can still capture the evidence in Google Maps

Exactly what I’m planning to do 😅 but it’s not a pandang whatsoever, just excess piece of land left by developers because they can’t build any further

I’m not master race btw
Felt illegal tho doing this, I don’t want to waste my money on doing it and destroy in future.

Haha, well just remember anything you built can torn down. So if you feel you have the spending capacity to build something, benefit from it without fear of it being torn down someday, go for it. As long as it wont interfere other people's life / space

Nope, this structure definitely won’t disturb anyone around me.
Only fear of jealous neighbours, reporting me to authorities because I’m taking advantage of that land.

Plan to do this so that our neighbours won’t argue because of parking spaces.

Typical case we see, argue because of parking...but if they complain I can’t do anything also sad.gif

Ppl will feel jealous, cause they will just feel, its not simply not right. Like how i vividly recalled about this jalan and find that to show you to you all. BUT sometimes, in some neighbourhood, ppl are ok with their neighbours and in that situation, they dont care if you do it since its your money anyways. But as long as you got some odd cases around you, be prepared for people to complaint cause in reality kan, they are right ..

Is diificult to sue another person for breaking public law since is under the purview of the govt or local authority. You can report and follow up with the authority.

Coming back to your parking issue .... if someone parked his car on that spot, what is your reaction ? That is how neighbours quarrel among themselves. Even a simple over parking sometimes in between houses can lead to quarrel. Reserved parking like having rubbish bins and flower pots are common sight.

Many a time, people 'prefer' to park nearest their place. They will squeeze into whatever little space and make things difficult for neighbours. A little walking can kill them if just further away.

Some neighbours own more cars than occupants in the house. I am not jealous of their 'richness' but they parked everywhere and denied others a space. The car are not driven most of the time and even has a canopy covering it !

Talking about msian way of life ... a village lifestyle I would prefer when I retire ..... plenty land !

Normally any residents who do it are claiming the 'right' or 'ownership' over the public space.

How can you claim something that belongs to the public? hmm.gif

Unless you go and see the developer who probably own the land and pay them.

That’s the reason of this thread
Asking permission from authorities, before I build structure on that

Authority normally dont approve as they dont want to set a precedent for other residents to follow. If they approved one, they have to approve other applications otherwise there is deemed corruption.

Local authorities or the state govt must be careful and have a good reason to alienate public space for private use, otherwise the backlash can be heavy from the general public. Take the e.g. of the Kiara Park in TTDI.

I am sure you dont want some vocal residents to bring your construction to the media even with approval.

In another scenario, a public gazatted park infront of a house suddenly become a private housing. I can guarantee no residents will allow the construction to proceed easily ... not discounting going to court or macc.

I know your intention and is good to hear from others b4 proceeding to apply to the local authority. However, there is no harm in applying ... who knows ... you may be lucky to have it approved.

That is what some residents are doing so. Booking public space or parking space with rubbish bins or flower pots.

Actually, since you mentioned that it is a land that the developer can’t do much, the land probably still belong to the developer. So you need to approach the developer first before the authority.
