I don't think you can call that bad luck.  There's been a lot of similar faults with the tx1000 series ... search around.... It's clearly manufacturing defect.

I repeat ......it's not bad luck. It's manufacturing defect.

In your case.... you are lucky to have a working tx1000.  Which does not mean the numerous others who face problems are unlucky......

And as such If I really do feel bitter, it's warranted as would other customers of HP tx1000 series product.
Am I bitter.... not really... I bot the extended warranty..  But not really happy with the way HP is handling this situation.

What I feel funny is that there are ppl clearly aware of how HP is handling this but go on promoting HP's product.    No wonder companies here can treat Malaysians like dirt when it comes to service.

If you don't believe me just do a search on google........for 'tx1000 problems'

here are some....

tx1000 problem

ANd another....

And closer to home....
Which looks exactly like what happened to mine......

Can you see it's not bad luck???
Just bad manufacturer....ie HP

This is interesting.

If you think about it.

Let say 1000 people bought a tx1000 and there is 100 people got their tx broken after 1 year. So it is still manufacturing defect or those 100 customer just bad luck gotten buggy batch? OR is it the other 900 is lucky?

I have seen lots of feedbacks in this forum and also in others HP forum, and the problem is - Wireless Adaptor starts to die and after a few weeks or a weeks months the motherboard dead.

What I suggest, I think may be you guys should group email and lodge a complain to HP Malaysia, because this is a very common problem for the TX1000 series, and it due to heats. They should have replace their defects FOC to us because this is their chipset and designs that cause the problem.

Well, when you guys lost the wireless signal - Broadcom wireless adapter is missing/malfunction, actually the Broadcom card is not faulty. I have taken it out from a faulty TX1000, and fix it to another Compaq Presario, it works, so I think the Broadcom is not faulty, but it is one of the chipsets that controlled the PCI slot that is already gone wrong.

This is a very common problem - Wireless gone and motherboard gone in few weeks later.

Yep.. no one likes to buy dud product. It's a risk we as the consumer will have to take. If you're not sure, the better option is to extend the warranty period. Some will not do it as it may be a burden to fork out extra cash to do so.

You have to do your own calculation and determine the period for your product cycle. To me, 2 to 3 years seems to be very long for a laptop. By then, you should be able to see better specs products being sold at the same price as what you pay for your current one.

It's really bad PR for HP on its TX-1000 range. One thing leads to another. Business call seems to weigh heavier than the ethics or quality call.

I have a TX1221AU.
I was trying to perform a format earlier today.
Everything works find after I went in to the 1st welcome screen of XP(dos based), and manage to copy all the setup files into the hard drive.
2nd restart, was when the setup was running, things happened.
It suddenly black out by itself, like completely power off. (p/s: Both the AC adapter and the battery is attached on the laptop)
At 1st I was like "Oh maybe some error", so I just on back the power, and let the setup run again.
After a while, again the whole laptop was power down by itself.
I had a 2x 2gigs 667 in it, I took out 1, and on back the power.
And now, everything is working perfectly.

So, I wanna ask, is it the RAM that cause the auto shut down?
Cause after I done formatting everything, I put the RAM that I took out earlier in, and working perfectly.

Or is it the Mobo? Bye bye RM500? sad.gif
