Hi, can anybody recommend a good furniture shop selling wall mount tv cabinet in Penang mainland? Preferably 8 feet long without the false wall. I'm interested to buy foyer cabinet as well.

the full spec with doors is something like this

but you can go for the basic unit first and think think whether wan to get the doors later on

I was at the same situation looking for 8 feet wall mount tv cabinet a month ago.
Unfortunately no ready made cabinet out there could satisfy my styling and budget requirment.

Hence, I went for ikea hacker route by following this page: https://www.ikeahackers.net/2019/12/wall-mo...binet-ikea.html

All in cost for 240cm (8 feet) is about RM1.4k.
That includes 3 big and 2 small (inner) drawers with blum fittings and top panel.

I'm satisfied with the outcome but it is only suitable for DIYers.

Plenty available at any bigger furniture shops EXCEPT Ikea. I would say nothing special. Just a box attached to wall. Spend sometime over weekend shopping and am sure you can find one.

Is either you prefer drawer or hinge type closing.

Dont need a genius to create that design.

I chose Ikea over others because of its low formaldehyde standard and the BLUM drawer hardware.
Difficult to find from others with customized styles, safety and quality for Ikea's price tag.
Of course, I would get customized aluminum cabinet if I have more budget.

Your preferred design is actually quite common.
Please visit furniture shop one by one to get the best match.

Besides, "drawer" types are definitely much more expensive than swing door types.
And please ensure your TV area power sockets are not behind the cabinet, otherwise, modifications are needed.

What's your tv cabinet distance from the floor? Usually how high to hang besta? 30cm from the floor ok?

Honestly, I don't know the "standard" distance but I believe it is also dependent on your wall.
Example: if there is any power socket behind the cabinet...

In my previous house with customized TV cabinet, the contractor made it 55cm distance between the floor and cabinet Top.
I followed the same for my current house Ikea TV cabinet and it's perfect!

Thanks for your feedback. So if like your contractor, its more or less 1foot from floor,

Because sometimes I see people mount tv cabinet (not ikea) with small slim cabinet more than 1foot from the floor. I guess it is because of the power socket

For me, I prefer to use the distance between floor and cabinet top instead of between floor and cabinet bottom.
Just don’t feel like mounting my TV too high.

My power sockets are exactly behind my cabinet too. I just cut a hole behind the cabinet to fit them.

Custom made will be costly even with simple design like this.. u also need to plan out your socket and wiring conceal. Plug points..

Standard 30cm from floor to cabinet bottom.. cabinet another 30cm.. tv hanging depend on preference.. 75cm from floor and above as minimum.. depend on size..

If plug points not within standard, you can either ignore or perform wiring works to relocate it.

Usually custom made is better fit to you and mostly around RM 500 to 600 per 2ft.. so 8ft maybe around 2k to 2.4k.. longer than 8ft might need extra cost..

One of my tv cabinet design as attached screenshot.. it do have 10ft long at least. Total length 13ft with tall cabinets..

Survey lots of cabinet maker, very costly for a very small cabinet. Which is why I prefer ikea besta.

It depends on your cabinet type and installation method.

Ikea cabinets are basically installed with screws which can be dismantled easily.
But the size may not be perfect fit.

For custom made, they may insert metal rod to hold the cabinet, apply silicon for edge finishing and filler panels.
Size will not fit your new place but also risk of breaking it during dismantling process.
If you are not a handyman, please hire someone.

The one I knew from crownlivin is portable and able to move new location in case you need.. I can't explain it cause not my expertise. But when visited their showroom, looks cool. Just in the end didn't pick them due to my personal storage concerns and height issue.. their are more to combinations of their parts. While can't get certain dimension that I want to have..

What did you use for your top panel? Mind to share pics? Also, without a tv wall board, how do you hide the wires (power cable, HDMI etc)?

my solution is dig a hole and put a casing inside your wall.. from the plug points location to tv plug point location..

I got my top panel from woodpanel.com.my.
If I have to diy, I will use ikea metod worktop but that is more expensive.

The cables between wall mounted TV and cabinet are hidden by soundbar.
For other cables (woofer, gaming console), just mount a 1''x2'' pvc wire casing below the cabinet. It won't be visible from front.
Eventually, I didn't hack the wall to hide those cables.

Yes, my contractor did the same. Pvc pipe easy to get the cable slide down.
