tongue.gif I googled after posting this and realized yeah everyone wanted this few years ago and Apple just doesn't give a damn, anyhow not much of an annoyance, actually pretty good since u can still see notification before unlocking. Btw, they say use lint-free cloth to clean and wipe all surfaces of the iPhone, so meaning can use spectacle cloth ?

Side question - Is it generally normal for battery to drain slightly faster when using GPS like Google maps ? Be it new or old phone, no matter how good the battery is, it'll still drain much faster when using GPS ?
*
Ya, they have a justification for everything smile.gif

Yes and yes, you can use the cloth for your glasses to wipe the phone, no issues and using navigation apps definitely drains your battery quicker. From my experience though I found that using Google Maps drains a little less compared to using Waze.

I love Waze because can chat brows.gif  brows.gif

When there are traffic jam, you can see people comment what happened and what lane to use.
*
Ya, that socialising feature of Waze makes it more unique smile.gif

QUOTE(Sotsotzaii @ Dec 31 2020, 04:52 PM)
But then waze actually drains battery much more faster than google maps right ? even some article supports that  sad.gif
*
Yes it does. I’ve tested it for myself so I can confirm this, but I still prefer to use it over Google Maps though..

QUOTE(Kar Weng @ Jan 1 2021, 10:13 PM)
Mine from the Apple Site actually shipped faster than expected.
What is RAM upgrade? Didn't see this option when buying!
*
He is probably referring to customisation options available when buying a Mac or MacBook..

QUOTE(zhi95 @ Jan 1 2021, 11:24 PM)
looking for cheaper iphone 12 mini, wonder why in china can cheap a lot on their shopee which is PDD but ours not much discount
*
China market is too competitive, hence phones there are cheaper than most places globally.

QUOTE(Sotsotzaii @ Jan 2 2021, 07:48 PM)
Just want to ask u guys here, at what percentage % do u let ur iphone battery drops to before u charge it ? I know there probably isn't a general rule of thumb as to when to charge the phone, but just wanna know at what % do most people let their battery drops to before charging for "optimum" result to the battery's lifespan.
*
Normally for me whatever percentage left on the battery at night after a day's of usage. Normally between 40% to 50%, heaviest usage so far is till about 30%.

QUOTE(Sotsotzaii @ Jan 2 2021, 11:18 PM)
I read somewhere that it's best to take out phone casing when charging, is that necessary ?
*
I read that somewhere too but I can't be bothered laugh.gif

QUOTE(coolman82 @ Jan 3 2021, 05:01 PM)
Anyone using uag civilian casing?
Is it bulky and heavy? How’s the grip?
*
Me, for my iPhone 12. Grip is good, feels really nice and sturdy. It is a bit heavier and bulkier compared to some slimmer cases like Ringke Fusion, etc. but it's right up there with the likes of Spigen Tough Armour, Otterbox Symmetry, etc. so it's a good trade off between protection and size/weight. My wife is using UAG Plasma for her iPhone 12 Pro Max and she said the grip of the Civilian feels nicer than the Plasma but the Plasma looks better from the back where else the Civilian looks boring and plain.

Hahahah same, for me I just use my phone normally, and when it reaches at night, sometimes still left 50-60 %, sometimes 40%, so normally i'll charge at around 40, and always until 80% only as recommend.

Btw u using any apple casing ? or wat casing are u using ?
*
I'm using UAG Civilian at the moment bro, but my Nomad Leather case is scheduled to arrive today. Will keep one and probably sell the other smile.gif

I prefer the boring and plain look.l 🤣
*
Yeah, same here. Simplicity rocks!

QUOTE(mycolumn @ Jan 4 2021, 07:00 PM)
Wah is that yours? How is it?
*
Yes, it’s mine. Just arrived from US via FedEx. Loving it so far, especially the smell smile.gif

QUOTE(ahlin @ Jan 4 2021, 09:04 PM)
Unexpectedly matching with Red colour phone.  thumbup.gif
*
True, another good reason to pick Red, am sure the saddle brown one from Apple would match too, haha...

QUOTE(clivengu @ Jan 4 2021, 09:38 PM)
So Classy! Can feel the leather is much better leather compare to the Apple leather case.

I go the safe route , Black 12 with apple saddle brown.. Got consider the Nomad case, but I don't quite like its thicker front frame (although more protection)... Even with the current apple leather case I still feel it is very bulky.. maybe I should try using the super thin case (with no protection).. The bulkiness actually make me think twice if i should change from regular 12 to the mini.
*
Black matches any colour case! The Nomad is slimmer than my UAG Civilian, but I can understand why some folks don’t quite like the buttons on the Nomad coz it’s less “clicky” but it seems fine for me so far.

bro how u manage to get 0% at all when u leave ur phone to idle overnight without charging ? I thought definitely suppose to drain at least 3% more or less ?
*
0% drain usually happens after the phone is fully charged to 100% but it’s a little artificial, mostly software related. 3-5% drain would be normal. Bear in mind the iPhone 12’s battery capacity is not even 3000mAh which is laughable in 2020/2021 but that’s the way Apple rolls.

Ohh, I never charge my phone to 100% since i got it, I always go with 40-80%. I didn't know 3000mAh is laughable hahaha, ok well noted !
*
Haha, it is. I tell my friends I wouldn't touch any Android phone unless the battery size is above 4000mAh yet I practice this double standards when it comes to iPhones, hahaha...

Camera comparisons between the iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12, S20 FE and Note 20 Ultra - proving that you don’t have to buy the top of the line flagship just for the photo quality smile.gif

https://www.soyacincau.com/2021/01/15/iphon...era-comparison/

Conclusion: -

“Apple’s iPhones have always been the best when it comes to taking natural and consistent looking photos, and the new iPhone 12 and the 12 Pro Max are no different either. The only difference is that the iPhone 12 doesn’t come with a dedicated telephoto camera while the iPhone 12 Pro Max does. You will also be missing out on a larger sensor as well as a LiDar scanner if you are getting the iPhone 12. But to me that doesn’t really matter because if you were to take a look at the comparison, there isn’t any significant difference in terms of image quality. And even though the Pro Max comes with a sensor shift OIS, the videos taken on the iPhone 12 is on par with the more expensive 12 Pro Max. So if you are planning to get an iPhone, I think that the best option right now is the iPhone 12.”

there is no apple malaysia.. all supports come from apple SG
*
Actually technically there is an Apple Malaysia, just they don’t operate their own retail or service centre here - all goes to authorised resellers and service centres.

How did u know my apps auto update isn't off ? don't like that bro, this one not kopitiam. at least have some manners, if not don't bother replying, wont lose out.
*
Haha, I’m surprised you’re still having this issue. My auto update is on and I’ve not experienced any of the battery drain you have even after close to two months using my iPhone 12 now smile.gif

right, technically there is Apple Malaysia @ menara CIMB, KL central.
However  afaik, not only store & service centers, they don’t even offer any customer support for malaysians.
All support come from Apple SG.
in fact Apple MY website is operated by Apple SG.😀
*
Yeah, that is true smile.gif

What to do, we are still very much a Samsung and Huawei country smile.gif

Yeah but from time to time, for the past few days yes, then I checked my battery usage and found out that Whatsapp's background activity is running at 1.5 hours on the background, no idea why, I believe that's the culprit but not sure why is it running so high on the background when I didn't even open it for the day.
*
You have lots of group chats in the background? That could be one cause of it.

I have 2 family group chats, I deleted the rest of it when I got the new phone. U suspect group chats is the culprit of background activity ?
*
It was for me. Try restarting the phone and using DND (Do Not Disturb) mode just before you go to bed and see if it improves.

Ok i'll try restarting the phone, as for DND it's scheduled 12AM to 9AM, but DND doesn't have any affect on the phone's battery though, in fact it should be saving battery than draining it.
*
It suspends the notifications so that helps a bit but not much I guess. I charge my phone every night before I sleep, plug it out at 11.30pm or 12.00am every night at 100% then go to bed with DND on and it’s usually at 99% or 100% the next morning when my alarm goes off at 7.00am.

Ya thats wat it does, as in won't let the screen light up. I never charge to 100 before tho as they say always charging it to 100 will harm battery in the long run. Always until 80-85%, i kind of notice if i charge it until 85%, next day wake up 84%, drop only 1%, if anything below 80, it'll drop 2-3%.
*
Ya, that’s good enough actually.
