Coming from Google Pixel. Is it easy to switch Android to iOS these days?

I'm used to google services like google photos, Gmail suite, google keep.

Nope Nope and Nope. IOS is very much restrictive. Even transferring your whatsapp chat over to IOS requires paid apps to do so.

I guess Apple ecosystem is too thick and tall then. I am still juggling between pixel 5 or iPhone 12 pro.

After days of research of videos and articles, I guess I will finally move from Pixel 2 XL to iPhone 12 pro!

The last Pixel 5 is too disappointing. 4-year-old hardware and Google always try to get away with their software optimization. Photo is excellent, but I believe others already caught up.

I don't normally use a screen protector and cases for my phone. Any recommended?

My last iphone is iPhone 5s and havent touch iOS for quite sometime! Who else is moving from Android?

Is the display on 11 pro max same as the iphone 12?

I have played with my friend 11pro max and feel like 60hz OLED in 2020 feels so outdated to me. Maybe will hold for another year now.

I'm looking forward to iPhone 12 Pro Max and it is going to be my first iPhone if all sails smoothly but I'm not new to iOS as I have been using few iPads for a decade.  blush.gif

However, many photos are shared around where 12 Pro are easily scratched. Not that I will use my phone naked but I'm just feeling uncomfortable to pay that much but is easily scratched? hmm.gif

Telcos will launch soon, Digi is planning for the event now. smile.gif

I have been using my phone naked from iPhone 5s to Note 5 to Pixel 2 XL and never have a crack screen. I did drop it a few times but it didn't shatter like what in Internet. I only used dbrand skin or moment case sometimes if I'm going out for a travel trip.

It's all comes down to your working place and where do you spend most of the time. Indoor or outdoor?

Remember you bought the phone is meant to use it not to be admired. Do you understand what I mean? If you feel it does give you anxiety for dropping it then just put on a case. Otherwise just naked it to feel the awesomeness of Apple engineering and if you feel bored after a year just slap on Dbrand skin and you'll feel as new.

You are the master of the phone not the slave of the phone.

Interesting point of view. That's what I have been noticing. More and more reviews coming up that Pro seems like a upsell marketing by Apple.

In the end, ceramic shield covered with case, telephoto in night mode maybe used once a month. Most of the time we only use our phone to take birthday, pets or food pictures or maybe some Tiktok videos. After all, good content is about have a good story and good editing.

I might prolly sway to iPhone 12 in the end.

still in dilemma, thinking of the size of pro max, i love the spec of the pro max, but 6.7 inch seems very large, even the current 11 pro max 6.5 inch is too big for my hand. but like many says, 12 pro is just extra telephoto and lidar and extra 2gb ram. hmm.

Get the iPhone 12 protect it nicely then sell it next year to get a better one next year. 120hz. This year pro doesn't feel pro without higher refresh rate to be honest.

Doesn't feel 12 pro is future proof in my opinion because of the displays refresh rate.

Lately more and more youtubers posted video said dont buy IPhone 12 Pro. Aiyo.. Like that Apple how to boost their sales?  mega_shok.gif

Indeed 12 pro seems like awkward middle child. I bet 80% of this buyer are buying for the stainless steel build.

It's AAPL intention to cover every price point of every iPhone. Very clever move from them.

If you care about photography should just go Pro Max instead. 47% larger sensor really makes a lot of difference.

After some reading here and there for the past few days, most likely i'll be sticking with my 11 pro max. I assume my current 11 pro max 256gb can be sold at rm4000, i'll have to top up rm1799 for a 12 pro max 256gb for a better camera and new design only.

Upgrade when it's Pro Motion display. I believed 11 pro max has the same display OLED as 12 too.

Go ProMax!

I myself took vlog on a travel trip. The battery is really an issue if you take videos on the road. You don't want to connect powerbank most of the time while taking videos.

I've used multiple iPhone and Android phones over the years. I don't have any brand loyalty and will buy/use a phone based on the tech available or what is needed at the moment of time. I typically change phone every 6 months to test out "new" features. It was much worse previously, where i buy every flagship device from brands like Apple, Samsung, Oneplus, HTC. Definitely not sustainable but it feeds the addiction of having the latest and greatest toy every couple of months. Hint on my age, I've used an O2 XDA before

My view is that there are no such thing as a perfect phone/device. There will always be drawbacks when you switch devices, even when you are switching from one Android to another (most painful when you switch from different between Android/iOS and wanting to maintain your WhatsApp conversation).

So why am I buying the iPhone 12 this time around? Given that the upgrade cycle is every 12 months and I wont be able to feed that addiction of mine on switching phones? 1 word comes to mind, Longevity.

This is important to me now because due to new work arrangements, I'm fortunate enough to have my choice of phone subsidised by my company. The upgrade cycle allowed by my company is every 2 years so to me the natural choice will be an iPhone for 2 reasons. 1)Resell value after 2 years 2) Almost guaranteed performance on any app for 2 years, although i believe this will be the same for any SD865 proc Android phones.

Yes, the battery is weaker compared to my current OnePlsu 8 Pro and perhaps it throttles when i game on it but considering that i need to keep the same phone for 2 years  cry.gif i feel that an iPhone is my best bet.

Thoughts?

Coming from Pixel 2. I have the exact same thoughts as you. Pixel resale value straight down rubbish. I guess that's what Android phone weak at. If you planning to use your phone until dead, get an Android phone as you won't get any resale value.

However, Pros of Android Phone:
- You won't get anxious if its gonna drop or whatsoever
- The phone meant to be used. It caters your life. You can charge whenever you want, you can even go naked phone.
- Replacement is cheap compared to iPhone.

Sure iPhone might be longevity compared to Android but this iPhone 12 seems like is like the last batch of 60hz and that's what keeps holding me back. It's like the last feature I wish they had put it in then you can go for 4-5 years for this single iPhone.

Otherwise, if "Pro-motion" come out next year, you will feel you stuck in a decade-old phone.

So, my plan either get an iPhone 12 then resell upgrade to a better spec when Pro-motion out then sticks to it for 3-4 years. Or just stick to my own Pixel and wait till "Pro-Motion" is out.

I liked his review compared to most of the other reviews. He is one of the Chinese famous tech reviewer.

TLDR:

His recommendation:
Promax - For the pro user (used for vlogger, understand what is RAW, HDR, like big screen for media consumption, best of the best)
Pro- Not recommend
Normal - For normal average user
Mini - Like small screen, mainly iPad user (small phone for better as you have bigger screen all the time), dual phone user with another android flagship.
