Perhaps I was a little nostalgic going through w Apple revolutionizing pc, laptops, music(!), connectivity (phone) and now photography,
might have be a bit gullible to the attention catching news of the recent ip12. And maybe the latest gadgets doesn’t suit my lifestyle as in airpods, watches or airpay. I do enjoy very much how Apple made digital writing via ipad a reality though.

Thought it might be safe to just rant abit among fellow fans rather than the kopitiam side haha

yup, you are right but not so much about justifying for myself. Just thought it could be a possibility due to huge expectations nearly the whole world on launching the latest product. Hopefully i’m wrong on the fine tuning but it’s not a huge matter just wanting to add in the many conspiracy theories here, but at this moment I still “defend” Apple among my social circles
that Apple still provide the best value for tech as it outlasts generally almost Windows (laptop) or Android phones as materials, quality and software is well designed
and not just chasing after treads or specs alone. Design does mean something to Apple imho, similar to your point about philosophy. I’m sure all the constant software updates will sort things out.

Yeah I think I responded to your “tell me” above, my mind wasn’t on phone alone, but I do agree on the pinnacle of tech especially phones, anything else will be like calling using fingers only ha!

Previously buying Singapore sets means you'd get it way earlier than Malaysia, but that gap has closed considerably in the past couple of years. If you are in Singapore you'll find a number of folks who renew their Telco contract and sell off the phones, so there is a good bargain or two to be picked up from there every now and then. But because the SGD is really strong Vs the MYR now, there really isn't much benefit buying from Singapore these days.
Actually there is no international warranty for iPhones, Apple explicitly stated in their websites that they may limit warranty to the country where the phone was sold. All warranty claims are treated on a case to case basis but more often than not, their Customer Service will honour warranty claims for phones within the same region with minimal fuss.
End of the day, it's your hard earned money bro. If you feel disappointed with Apple "cheating" you of a smaller battery and a charging brick, there are many options out there. I've been using midrange Android phones for a bit this year (in fact even using one now) and they are every bit as good as iPhones in terms of fluidity and day to day performance. Unless you're heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem and must get an iPhone, perhaps the older ones on a steep discount would be worth considering instead of the 12 series.

I've used multiple iPhone and Android phones over the years. I don't have any brand loyalty and will buy/use a phone based on the tech available or what is needed at the moment of time. I typically change phone every 6 months to test out "new" features. It was much worse previously, where i buy every flagship device from brands like Apple, Samsung, Oneplus, HTC. Definitely not sustainable but it feeds the addiction of having the latest and greatest toy every couple of months. Hint on my age, I've used an O2 XDA before

My view is that there are no such thing as a perfect phone/device. There will always be drawbacks when you switch devices, even when you are switching from one Android to another (most painful when you switch from different between Android/iOS and wanting to maintain your WhatsApp conversation).

So why am I buying the iPhone 12 this time around? Given that the upgrade cycle is every 12 months and I wont be able to feed that addiction of mine on switching phones? 1 word comes to mind, Longevity.

This is important to me now because due to new work arrangements, I'm fortunate enough to have my choice of phone subsidised by my company. The upgrade cycle allowed by my company is every 2 years so to me the natural choice will be an iPhone for 2 reasons. 1)Resell value after 2 years 2) Almost guaranteed performance on any app for 2 years, although i believe this will be the same for any SD865 proc Android phones.

Yes, the battery is weaker compared to my current OnePlsu 8 Pro and perhaps it throttles when i game on it but considering that i need to keep the same phone for 2 years  i feel that an iPhone is my best bet.
