Setting:
• In 873 AD, war and overcrowding in Norway prompts Eivor and their brother Sigurd to lead their clan of Vikings to settle new lands in Anglo-Saxon England, as part of the Viking expansion across Europe.
• The clan comes into conflict with the kingdoms of Wessex, Northumbria, East Anglia, and Mercia over the next several years, as well as the warring sons of the legendary Viking warrior Ragnar Lothbrok, who made up the Great Heathen Army.
• Eivor's clan will face forces led by the leaders of these kingdoms, including Alfred the Great, the king of Wessex.
• It is during this time that Eivor meets the Hidden Ones and joins their fight against the Order of the Ancients.
• Explorable cities include Winchester, London, and York.
• Parts of Norway will also be included.

As with previous games in the series, Valhalla features a narrative set in the modern day. This story will follow Layla Hassan, a character featured in Origins and Odyssey. Valhalla will also contain story elements related to the Isu, who, as part of the lore of the Assassin's Creed series, are an advanced civilisation that pre-date humanity.

The game looks boring as Hell !!

I'd like to disagree, but I haven't play the game yet so I can't really comment. However I assume hell to be a very over lively place.

kinda like the rpg element in Origins and Odyssey so will def give this a try and play as Viking remind me of Thor

Alfred the great will win cos have Uthred Uthredson fighting for him

Most of the videos available regarding gameplay however doesn't venture further than the shaded region.

What we see is mostly pasture of a beginning area, we've yet to see the remarkable architecture of the major towns & cities that are available in Valhalla, in which what Origin & Odyssey taught us; Historical resemblance or even close to the real duplicate with historical accuracy like the town of Alexandria in Origins or the Great City of Athens in Odyssey.

me too frenn, I can't wait to be slinging axes at my foes and if they don't die from it I'll be stomping their heads on the curb. The blood effect has been highly enhanced as well, like if we use dual flails, we'll be doing the helicopter with blood splats everywhere.

Anyone here manage to use the 20% discount code on checkout?

does it apply for PS4 CD pre-order?

I checked the ubistore earlier and it only shows PC platform.

I'm not really a wise consumer in the sense I don't hunt down discounts, but players in AUS already received their pre order PS4 copies few days ago and there's tons of streamers begun their gameplay stream already.

Really trying to avoid the Valhalla subreddit now preventing spoilers, god damn this has gotta be the longest 3 days for me ... not to mention my gameshop lobang says he might be getting a weeks delay for the CD because reasons. I might just go ahead and purchase my first digital game from the PS store. (well not really the first, gotten SIMS4 on sales during MCO).

No ragrets

Mean R1 and R2 right? I played abit this morning, can confirm decapitated enemies got their helmet stuck. Still satisfying though.

Of course, it's up to each person's preference. But for me, I would rather buy the complete version instead of cripple version. I compared the 2 different version on youtube. The experience is totally different. The uncensored version is more oomph.

You may feel ok when you play the censored version. But once you play the uncensored version, you sure won't be able to go back. From the videos, I can tell that the uncensored verison feel much better and satisfied in term of slashing/decapitating/killing people. The blood and brutal action.

Try to imagine. Let say Ghost of Tsushima is censored, and there's no blood spill out when you slash and kill. Would you think that you would still enjoy the game like you are now? Absolutely not!


Don't ge me wrong. I am not telling anyone what to buy. Just IMO, it's not worth to pay full price for a censored game. If you must buy the Asia version (our local vesion), then better wait for discount in future (Ubisoft game always get discount very soon anyway). Or better, buy from other regions such as US.

Censored Uncensored? This is PS version or PC version?

Censored version only applied to PS4/PS5 Asia version (including the one we buy in our local PSN store). PC version should be safe. I can't confirm though since I am not a PC gamer.

Any physical store will bring in R1 or R2 copies ? Most of them are only selling for R3 versions here .

Got the ultimate pack last night , thrown in a couple of hours .

- The " berserker pack " may also be bought separately from Ubisoft store .

- More writings , even more dialogues . Expect your random blacksmith NPC telling you about his honey moon or divorce stories .

- In general , not much have changed since AC : Odyssey . Several things have seen improvement , direct combat remains sluggish at times . Nothing is as satisfying as piercing your enemies 's throat with hidden blade .

- The addition of settlement is surprisingly well implemented . Offering a variety of customization , some of the cool things are locked behind MTX .

- PS4 pro seems to play the game on dynamic resolution 1440p , holding a pretty stable 30fps .

- HDR is well implemented like previous AC games . You are given the options to adjust peak brightness and exposure point according to your display .

- Censorship doesn't bother me that much . Yea sure I would go for the uncastrated edition if I was given the choice .

But if you are buying the digital edition you don't exactly get to choose unless you are willing to overpay . Considering the fact Ubisoft has given the Asian Psn store quite a discount on both the Gold and Ultimate Edition ( RM 289 & RM 339 vs 100 USD & 120 USD). Enemies still bleed when they die . I would be furious if they remove the blood effects but I don't mind seeing a few less boobies in a game .

- Massive improvement on the environmental effect , for example your char leaves very realistic trailing and footstep on snow and also interact with the foliage , adds to the immersion .

- Still not a fan to the stupid ( to say the least ) meta plot , enough of the Animus crap .

- Female Eivor's resemblance to Charlize Theron , a positive I supposed If you are a fan of her .

Contemplating between buying Gold edition or Ultimate edition.

Is the Berserker set worth it?

Anyone bought physical disc gold edition? I found out no any slip of code season pass inside it. Just the disc itself only. Does that mean the season pass inside the disc? Kinda impossible right.

You might wanna check back with the shop. Season Pass code should have its own slip.

So i've been playing a bit now. I have to say the story so far is very interesting, in line with what I kinda expected of a vikings story (that of netflix Last Kingdom and Vikings). plus narrative choices!

Though I can't help but notice the game seems a lot more buggy (compared to the previous games like odyssey or origins).

there's bugs in the combat, travelling, talking to npcs, side activities etc.

Made it to Lunden yesterday after my 3 day Valhalla marathon, I won't say explicitly that I've been rushing the game but I did focus on the main story quest up till then.

There's lots of valuable side quest like the kid back at Ravensthorpe in your long house that gives you the ability to summon your own wolf, which to my surprise unlike the other abilities obtainable via looting the ability book.

I've been playing on normal difficulty (much like the previous 2 titles) and I'd say comparing them all 3, Valhalla proves to be the more challenging one. Parrying seems to be of greater importance now if you want to stun your enemies and since we can't infinite dodge anymore without draining away your stamina bar; the combat to me seems to be more fluid & cinematic-like when you manage to land those perfect parries and perfectly execute back dodges backstabbing your enemies and que head decapitation animation.

needless to say the absence of blood splattering and virtual tiddies is disappointing, honestly the blood splats everywhere is what matters ... hopefully there'll be an option on the settings to on/off blood animation in future patches (maybe tiddies too). Ohh and Asgard not being a DLC ... say whuuuut.

Not kissing up to Ubisoft but the AC franchise as a whole has come a long way ...

They already have the blood ON/OFF option [which doesn't seem to do anything since they are being hard-filtered out by the patch] , what I don't get is why don't they just stick to the option instead of having to succumb to CERO .

If anything they could just leave the default option to " OFF " and let people play the game the way they wanted to .

We don't even get a nudity ON/OFF option AFAIK .

say what now, is that with or without the effects being splat all over the floor and surrounding when we hack & slash the enemies?

because there's always been blood but without the splats being all over ... much like what the video comparison shown by a forummer posted above.

Apparently animals can bleed over the flood , just not human .



And no I don't see a single drop of blood from decapitation as well but they didn't filter the cutscenes .

I'll have to give it a look see once I'm back tonight, because last I checked it was on default and there's been no puddle of blood anywhere ...

the only cutscene which grinds my gear is during the decapitation of Eivor's father during the beginning of the game, dude got his head slashed off and kicked by the villain but in the same cutscene the head is intact with his body ...

I was having a blast on PS4 pro until I saw the post above about the censored version. Damn it

that's one of the things that took the fun out of it for me, then again we won't know what we don't have until we realized we don't ... hope mek sens

That's not the thing that grits my teeth thou, there's countless bugs and NPCs being slow paced / dialogue delay, dialogue audio cut off (subtitles still running), execution scenes not prompt properly, endless BGM from a previous engaged quest are just a few bugs to be named ... hair clipping issue, cape glitching while walking down leveled surfaces & not to mention that floating canoe and albino looking fur less horse yea

sorta immersion breaking but I just kept on going because AC story.

I hope the reason they're slow on the 1.03 patch is because they're getting everything fixed.

Bugs and glitches are expected for Ubisoft games, especially AC. But so far, no quest breaking bug yet.

Still have a beef with the world events though.

compared to the previous Origins and Odyssey, Valhalla is like the King of bugs and glitches ... but yea, no quest breaking bug yet. It's still immersion breaking thou

by world events what d'ya mean, the mythical side quest or the skirmishes roaming around?

because compared to Odyssey who has soldiers free roaming, I've noticed not all Saxons will aggro on sight but Britons will.

... and I still haven't got the hang of this social stealth that's re-introduced in Valhalla,

like with my hoodie up soldiers are still spotting me instantly leaving no chance to hide or blend in and I end up murdering half the town that I just secured an Alliance with. (Synin unable to tag enemies is a big downvote)

Guess that's the life of a Viking ...

The untrackable side quests. There's no tracker, so I don't know where to go, even where to start. Sometimes u accidentally start the quest without knowing.

Btw, I found out the confirm kill has special animation, but it's removed for our censored version.

That does happen if you're engaged in another quest but stopped to pick another, I've been manually going to the menu and tracking the quest that I'm interested in. I'm on the base PS4 btw

Good news guys. Ubisoft promised that they will release a patch for the Asia version game soon so that the censorship switching option will be available in the game setting. Glad that I didn't play the game first.

Turns out to be a disappointing weapon

Saw some local shops bringing in R2 copies. Those that cant wait for the patch probably could head to get the physical copies

it's still a very OP 2h Sword & does a very cool sound effect.
This 1.03 patch sure is taking it's own sweet time ... Let's not get our hopes too high for the next patch, I don't expect them to address all the bugs in one patch. There's lots of improvements to be done too bugs aside, it'll probably be release it patches and known as sorta mini free DLCs like what they've previously done with Odyssey. NG+, transmog, maybe even an assassination contract board in future just to keep the hype going on ...

Personally I prefer spear, dagger and Dane Axe. Don't really see the point of having a 2h sword. I beat those 280 power Zealots with spear+dagger combo at power 150

ye I love the axe as well for secondary, that consecutive savage blow really melts the HP bar of enemies easily. I used to wield the hammer before Excalibur, easily breaks enemies with large shields. Now I just parry or dodge for that slowed frame, sorta easy once you get the hang of the timing. Never really liked spears in vidya games but that's just a personal preference, much like I never use shields.

I didn't use shield at all. This parry is easy compared to Sekiro.
Dagger special attack is also useful to regain adrenaline super fast.

All my boss fight are just stab stab stab, ability. Repeat

Anyone found the altar that need fabric for offering? Apparently treasure chests stop giving fabric after I fully upgraded my ration and quiver. So u can't complete the altar.

It's been reported that alot of players are facing the insufficient fabric for all the contents in Valhalla.

Best not max out your rations and quiver pouch for now.

LOL, how many hours are you in? I don't see any real purpose of maxing them so soon as well but I'm playing on normal difficulty.

86 hours now, based on my save file. And the altar is in Eurvicscire, and I haven't reach there yet.

I only realized that I stopped getting fabric from small chests then I start checking. And my fren pm me asking about an altar that need fabric for offering.

Oh boiiiiiii just finished the game last night, I think I got the bad ending ... Everything was negative hahahahaha. That plottwist thou, Mr.Smith matrix vibes. Left it at when we get back to Ravensthorpe, there's still ongoing main quest ... maybe it wasn't the ending afterall.

Gungnir is an OP spear with it's extended AOE and high attack, like wielding it as a secondary with Excalibur as my main I can 2 hit sweep multiple enemies easily. Now it's time to unlock Mjolnir & full set Thor armor tonight.

this game always crash after 4 to 5 hours gameplay. I am using the first gen ps4. With watch dogs i have some frame drops but no crash.

Same. Base PS4, rarely bugs but more on crashes. Running around completing side quest now, not much crashes thou

A little late but Ubisoft has confirmed an upcoming patch which will be released in the middle of Dec will re-add blood and decapitation settings into the game .

Not a surprise to be sure but a welcome one.

However NG+ needs to come quick as I'm getting bored with not much enemies roaming around nor camps / forts to raid but the ones that were already completed.

Game feels really empty once you complete it compared to odyssey with lots of faction troops roaming and war triggering with ship warfare.

Too bad I already plat the game, so no motivation to test. After the season pass content come out then can try.

Valhalla Season 1 Content:

‣ The addition of the Ranks for Jomsviking: in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players can not only create their lieutenant to be part of their raiding crew, but also recruit some from their friends and the community. In Season 1, players will see an update to the Jomsviking feature which will allow their Jomsviking to earn XP and rank up – the higher will be the rank of the lieutenant, the more silver players will earn when recruited by other players.

Finally, as for each season, Season 1 will also come with new player skills and abilities, weapons and gear, and cosmetic items for the settlement, longship, horse and raven.

Season 2 begins March 2021, so safe to say we can expect all the above to happen between.

edit: The festival is time limited iinm, so best not miss out on that for some cool in-game goodies.
