I like the overall design as well but not the big black plastic cladding

if someone comes up with an idea to remove or modify those extra large plastic side cladding, im sure the sales will up

It does look much better than the CX-5.
Like an SUV coupe.
To lessen the visual impact of those massive claddings, get a darker colour.

It is more snug and stylish than the CX-5, with some decent driving aids included, but at that current pricing, many will opt for the CX-5.

My wife also ended up getting the CX-5 after we initially test drove the CX-30.

each to its own.

the CX-30 is effectively a crossover based on the Mazda3 BP therefore it is lacking space wise.

CX-5 is definitely the wiser choice if you are a family man and even if you only have one child, everyone benefits from the extra space in the CX-5. Moreover, if you compare spec to spec, the CX-5 IS cheaper than the CX-30.

you won't be worst off also if you bought the CX-3 because the price gap is rather huge.

Personally I wouldn't compare CX5 to CX30.

Instead I would compare Mazda3 to CX30. I know most of you probably disagree because one is a sedan/hatchback the other is a crossover, but if you think about it, the CX30 is not that tall and way more similiar to Mazda3 than CX5, and IMHO more worth the price than Mazda3.

To wit, if you want to buy a Mazda3 hatchback, maybe take a look at the CX30 first.

The CX-5 with its elbow rest, instead of an arm rest.
too much priority given to the 2 cup holders.

The money you save from the SST exemption would not be enough to compensate for the depreciation from getting a year-end car. If the govt decides to extend the SST-exemption longer than 31-Dec 2020, that'll be great.
However if you are keeping the car for a longer time (more than 5 years), then getting a year-end car is not an issue.

Bought Subaru XV GT recently.

Tested CX-30. Actually wanted to try CX-3 but no more stock. Cx-5 is too big for wife daily use.

After tax exemption, RM144k just about to buy core spec with fabric seat. Overall driving experiences rclxms.gif but not as fun as XV. The sales advisor really showed the function of AWD. That was my first time to have such a long journey for test drive. Cornering small roundabout at fast speed, went for minor off road, showed me the benefits to have double wishbones at the rear suspension. It is fun to drive.

just speculations but it could very well be the MX-30 instead since MAZDA is going "up-market" and it currently doesn't have an electric vehicle to compete against its competitors.
