Performance wise. M.2 SATA is the same as SATA. Even if you install it on current motherboards.

You have to look for the one that supports M.2 PCIE. The one you linked doesn't.

There is also USB 3.0/3.1 to M.2 PCIE too.

Can you run Windows installer from USB? If it does, that tool may work.
