QUOTE(YoungMan @ Feb 24 2021, 08:48 PM) Since all using TM's infra, in terms of customer service TM definitely win. Celcom doesn't use TM they've their own fibre network in Borneo called Celcom Timur like Allo. In fact they buy more bandwidth from TIME than TM. Axiata's direct Kuching-Batam/Singapore undersea cable is going to get litted soon. EDIT: Brunei has landing sites for SEA-WE-ME 3, AAG and SJC. Sabah and Sarawak ISPs can join their exchanges no need to rely on TM's route back to Peninsula Malaysia to connect out. Brunei Internet Exchange Companies: Unified National Networks (AS10094) UNN-BN (AS10101)This post has been edited by Candy12: Feb 24 2021, 09:01 PM

I have also enquire about Celcom fibre and later get to know my area is using TM infra so have to do switching if want to change. But good thing in Samarahan area someone mentioned before that Celcom run on Sacofa. I am keeping my option open currently. Also don't want to risk having to cue at Tmpoint and having the installer come in at this point of time.

Damn... I know my apartment is under coverage for TIME, and Digi is riding on them, so I tried to apply Digi 50Mbps, but this package is not available for my apartment, only 100Mbps above.

Digi doesn't want to offer 50M/20M plans in TIME coverage because for just RM10 more you get symmetrical 100M? No brainer! Even in Allo coverage RM79 can already get symmetrical 50M. Those other competitor ISPs such as DiGi, Maxis and Celcom selling RM89 for 30M? Would people even consider subscribing to them? Again no brainer and bad marketing!

QUOTE(sakuraboo @ Feb 24 2021, 07:19 PM) ok thanks for the input and interesting info then what about down time between isp? and customer service digi celcom tm maxis new fiber ISP should have much downtime cos they still new in this industry but i gonna improve in this area still need time to let them prove cant compare like TM who have more experience on this part. lastly.. those new fiber provider have sufficient bandwidth allocation back to user unlike TM we need to leech each other on the same highway. malaysia customer service don't expect much hope on this part

QUOTE(Candy12 @ Feb 24 2021, 08:31 PM) Just to add since just now I was in the hurry to take off for dinner. The 60ms ping to Perth via Maxis I mentioned earlier is from Ipoh. It should vary if you're doing it from Borneo due to distances and cable length. No matter how you want to see it, there's no other direct route from Borneo to Australia. If you want to reach Australia, the only closest major landing site is Perth, Western Australia via SINGAPORE. There is NO direct hop from Borneo around Jawa to land on NT, Australia. Most ISPs don't see any benefit connecting to Australia, there's very little content people want to access from there. Axiata is building a direct cable across the South China Sea to connect Kuching directly with Singapore called BaSICS(Batam-Sarawak Internet Cable System) and only via Singapore you can reach Australia West side via Perth.Else you need to take a big round to the other side of Australia's East Coastal Cities. Details here: PPTelecomhttps://www.pptelecom.com.my/corporate/index Maxis optimized route to Australia is via ColoAU Perth: https://coloau.com.au/networkCool map When is the direct cable going to be finished? Was supposed to be finished last year but perhaps hampered by covid because of travelling issues brought by mandatory quarantine in sarawak

QUOTE(Candy12 @ Oct 2 2020, 10:01 PM) Still considered expensive due to TM Wholesale unflexible port pricing for other competing ISPs. TNB Allo's allows ISPs to market symmetrical 100Mbps at RM89/mth with its Allo City Broadband offerings. Other ISPs such as Maxis and DiGi cannot afford to do this because they have to take TM Wholesale and Time Fibre's wholesale pricing to cover all of them. Same thing to happen in upcoming 5G SPV .. consumers or end users to pay the gains to ISPs

RM80/mth for 30M/30M with the best router giveout - TP-Link WiFi6 AX10 router Lowest early termination penalty as well RM500 one off.

Do update us all on your installation experience such as what kind of router they provide, typical speeds with regional speedtest servers and how frequent are the down times.

Port full. Reason i think maybe cuz my house still no DP box around 300m yet. TM install one box in shop at my taman. But, not in my street. They send request to add port. But they say will contact me again when new port is install. Expect 2~3 year or never.

I guess TM interest to invest in Restaurant & School corner in my taman. There is still some lorong no DP box. So, i just wait la. I need fiber just to stream 4K in TV. Download stuff no problem as there are many unlimited plan now. I thought can apply cuz my neighbour get his Unifi service. Don't know got 8 port limit pulak. even i DM unifi they say no Unifi. Ask agent. Say got. Also i choose Digi Fiber first cuz i regret if something happen. Then need pay remaining penalty with Unifi.

I am doing so because my house here just newly install new TM fibre DP box, my address still yet can be check in TM system, to speed up the system update, I have to urge Unifi by register from them first, once Unifi system has my address only other ISP using their infra can find out my address in system. Just not sure if I terminate Unifi within 30 days, would it be any problem on securing port when I sign other ISP, eg. my address will be blacklisted. Although price is almost same but Unifi contract penalty is like loan shark, in case I terminate my pocket will suddenly bocor.

Avoid both Unifi and Maxis which adopt this sort of unfair early penalty charges. So far it's still safe for Celcom, DiGi, Time and Allo CBB
