depends on which model and how u use it too
some dislike miui, some prefer strong signal strength on realme so quite subjective...battery life both is not bad |

If we're talking popular model(with Snapdragon), easy pick Xiaomi. Can unlock bootloader and flash custom ROM(provided there are custom ROMs available).
Using Redmi Note 4 myself since 2017. On LineageOS. Android 10. Just changed new battery. Good for another year at least |

Response from similar thread in Serious Kopitiam:
QUOTE(andyng38 @ Oct 1 2020, 09:18 PM) I had been debating that same issue cos I may be needing new phones soon. Watched vid reviews of both brands and read till blur. In the end, I decided it'd have to be Xiaomi because the IR Blaster does come in handy at times. Now I'm wondering if I should stick to the cheaper ones or splurge on a model that has AMOLED screen. It would be nice to have a zero or minimal camera bump and no dewdrop/punch hole in the screen...I think I'd find those things irritating. QUOTE(Pichu00 @ Oct 2 2020, 12:34 AM) Mi high end model cam okay okay only if mid one lose 9 street to realme. Even if use same camera module mi vs realme ( alot of Thier mid use same camera module ) realme slightly better. Camera all about software, look at mate 20 pro alot mid phone use the same camera module but only mate 20 pro can take night mode pic QUOTE(rtk74 @ Oct 2 2020, 02:14 AM) If you don't like bloatware and ads on your phone realme is a great brand, Alot of mid/low end xiaomi (redmi) have screen and battery bloat issue The UI for Realme mirrors OnePlus, quite lightwweight and close to stock QUOTE(pundi @ Oct 2 2020, 07:34 AM) ill choose realme bcause gps is very inportantant to me.....mi a1 has dispointed me baddly...very bad exp on it QUOTE(ZerOne01 @ Oct 2 2020, 11:24 AM) |

QUOTE(river.sand @ Oct 2 2020, 02:11 PM) ![]() Redmi 5 Plus 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB used since April 2018 (replacing my old faithful Redmi Note 3G from 2014) Screen problems: none Battery bloat: yes (3GB unit) and no (4GB unit). Maybe I was partially lucky, or partially unlucky...i dunno Am now debating between the Redmi 9, Note 9s and some higher end xiaomis. I never had an AMOLED screen b4, and I'm tempted, but the cheapskate force in me is still strong. EDIT: addendum- I disabled all the recommendations, and see no ads on the 5 plus's.
