Dear experts, Recently we (my wife and I) just get ourself to the next level (DSLR camera). Its a whole new experience for us to be in this zone. I'm thinking to spend few more thousand dollar into this camera due to its result. Any suggestion (with photo) on good lens and lighting (we are using the built in lighting which doesn't really do any good except for close range photography or outdoor)? Thanks Added on August 12, 2007, 8:50 pm[reserve for future] Added on August 12, 2007, 8:51 pm[reserve for future] This post has been edited by entrapnet: Aug 12 2007, 08:51 PM

seeing you're a family guy who most probably have plenty of kids at home, you might want to invest in a flash unit... (i.e, speedlite 430ex, 550ex or 580ex, or whatever series)
not sure how canon speedlites are, but it would be useful for indoor where kids like to run around and all that sort of stuff...
lens-wise, you need to know what kind of photography are you into... macro? landscape? portraits?

Not everyone of them are DSLR fan. Do you have any sample picture taken using that lense? It would be nice if I can see the result Added on August 13, 2007, 7:21 amQUOTE(wlcling @ Aug 13 2007, 01:11 AM) seeing you're a family guy who most probably have plenty of kids at home, you might want to invest in a flash unit... Good point..... When I was checking, speedlit for 580ex or 430ex (can't remember which model) cost me RM 1750. Do you think its a bargain price or I should look around? you can go third-party, i.e, Metz which should be cheaper However, I have no experience with third-party speedlites ... so can't comment on performance nor price

Usually I will go for portrait shot..... some background.... zoom would be nice go google and do some review reading between 580EX and 580EX II, 580EX II is now improve with faster charging cycle meaning usual flash after it flash u need to wait for it to re-charge but 580EX II recover like is 0.2 or 0.5 sec ....alot more feature la... To me i won't go for 3rd party flash since i want the FEATURE !!...
