im thinking of starting this game competitively again. but my old team mates are all gone! one of them is no longer back in kl to help me play test bcos he is back in his hometown become a boss. so im a lone ranger i most probably will come back for lorwyn pre release and start back mtg and be competitive as i used to, such as travelling to singapore for GPs and such. where else can we find good places to play some fnm, drafts, etc? does anyone here collect foils from mirrodin onwards?

thats why you are the pro la, psycho people to take wrong card hahaha. and rochester was the first ever draft your team did right? no experience what so ever, first time dunggus with no clue. can kai the win, QUOTE(munyip7 @ Sep 11 2007, 04:57 PM) i think 2 times split with them. that time team event's on get cash. but i still remember once my team beat this singaporean team in the finals of rochester draft PTQ. we offer split, but they thought we noobs. Lolz!! so we played la. i still remember clearly that time rochester team draft, they kick off 1st pack. his pack open got bomb rare in 8 1/2 Tails. I tot shit, so lucky....maybe not our day. See see, the player touch another card. The ruling in Rochester, once you touch that card, there's no takeback. The leader wanted him to take Tails, but too late la......Bwahahahah!! I sapu 8.5 Tails. I tell you their leader face so black, also wanna lay the smack down on his teammate. Hehehe..... I drafted 8.5 Tails yet my oppoenent draft white!! Ahahahah!! So funny. Other details I can't remember, but in the end we won and they left with nothing. That was my 1st team event 4 years ago i think. Heheh....

er munyip, i think you mis-read this card is it?
its like a 1 sided wrath (you need to be damaged first tho). so as long as you drop this guy, there can happen 2 things.
1) stall the opponents board until they can gather an alpha strike. 2) drop this dude and race the clock
it looks good, but without knowing what other cards in the set, we canot set the power lvl of this card yet. so far it seems like a bomb in limited, but chosing it will commit to black if im not mistaken the color is heavy black. 3colorless 3black?

Good cards sometimes dont win games, cards like dread is a good card, but not a game breaking card. if you are stuck at 5life and your opponent has enough damage to lethal you with 10dmg next attack phase, top decking/casting dread is still not going to safe you. some bad cards do win games, lol 'cut the tethers'... it was a stupid card, but it was game breaking when used correctly. agree or not munyip?

pick orders are a good incation for players who wants to learn how to draft, print runs are for the players who know what they are doing when it comes to drafts. thus perhaps this is the difference between why some players can consistently top8 or do well in limited and some stil cant excel in it after tonnes of articles from pro write ups. and could you elaborate on your high/good picks for counterspells? very often i find putting counterspells in the deck to be a waste as either i draw it too late and it couldnt stop the threat which i feared, or i draw it early and stop a threat which isnt too threatening. never a correct time to have a counterspell in my experience in limited. QUOTE(retep @ Sep 14 2007, 02:14 PM) ^ Rare drafter Can't wait for the Lowryn to come out. Since the set is large, it's gonna test your actual drafting skill in evaluating cards, rather than memorizing the pick orders -- I like. But anyway in TSP, the ones which are regarded as high/good picks: - Removals - 4cc for 4/4, or even 5/5 (Plague Sliver) - Reasonobly costed creatures with evasion with body at least 3/x - Psuedo removal/combat tricks/tempo gainer + a body (Shaper Parasite, Draining Whelk) - Counterspells - Card advantage (Foresee, Mindless Automation, Looter il Kor)

the prices are determined by the season for the format. if it is type2 constructed, prices for all t2 should be slightly higher, if it was extended season, certain old cards will have their price adjusted because players will be looking for old cards and such. so it really depends, with now the focus is on lorwyn release and limited play, prices for constructed worthy wont be at its peak so expect to see a drop in price for those cards with crazy prices. either players sell their cards for what the market value fetches now, or risk out selling lower prices once lorwyn is out.

while the keep 1 rare is nice for new players that want to get interested in drafting, i dont believe that it will help them gain the draft skills that they would gain to help them be a better player. if any one is serious about drafting well, becoming a better player, enjoy a more competitive game, it is either winner takes all rare OR the winner of the pod gets to choose a rare card first, followed by the 2nd, 3rd and so forth. this will give them a reason to particularly not rare draft but to draft their best so that they want to win to get better rewards.
and of cos if you dont feel confident enough in the draft pod, and if there are enough, swap around the better players drafting amongst themselves. or do a random and see how pod can be assigned. with the event of pro tour kl coming up, and the numerous ptq's focusing on limited, its no longer about drafting a money rare so you profit, but to do well to up your game and face bigger competitions. if you have the mentality of drafting rares, that mentality is not going to give you a spot anywhere near competitive enough to do well.
just my 2cents.

-.- u know what, he should've been out of top 8, everyone contribute their pack to give him some rares, and let a blood thirsty player who wants to get a shot at attending pro tour kl in the top8. what a waste of a spot in top8.

drafting is a fun format, i do hope that many more people are getting involved with drafts so its not as boring as constructed whereby 90% is netdecked tech and 10% actually goes thru extensive testing to tune their decks depending on meta and rogue decks.
its very simple. if you can get a group of players to solely want to learn drafts and enjoy the format, any rule you set is good. it is a good learning experience, good fun. but when you happen to mix in with good players, the stakes are higher. it is as high as winner takes all cards leaving you with nothing.
keep all your boosters in future, the ones you won from pre release, ptq, gpt etc. then drafting cost is significantly cheaper.
