Corrosion of GI pipe after the filter.

the dirt only comes out occasionally, maybe is like the person above said is because the filter did not change for too long

ok this one is a sand filter . yes can change the sand in the filter . every 3 years . need to call the service tech to do . in KL will cost about 350 RM to change the sand filter.

the filter system need backwash every 1 to 2 weeks depends on the incoming water quality .
i guess your parents did not do backwash cos dont know about it.
i guess long time not do backwash so much dirt stuck in the sand filter.

I use an automatic timer to turn on backwash.
Much more convinient...don't have to go out and manually turn on the tap to backwash everyday.

Timer doesn't work on this sand filter.
Yours should be membrane filter.

I found this less than 300 je,
https://s.lazada.com.my/s.1TYgW

If you survey around hardware stores some really throw the price as low as 180 also can get but exclude installation
Sand type filters usually are cheap, UF je expensive and doesn't really last long need frequent maintenance
Quality wise are debatable and subjective unless you go test the water quality each time you change the filter

i will not buy if i dont know the Quality . and specs info about the product and some figures
you need to evaluate the product. so no need to debate about quality.

what is important is the sand they fill and the weight . you need to see the specs

compare with this sand , need 2 bags / filter = 320 RM
WATERCO Filter Media - ZEOPLUS ZEOLITE (25KG/BAG) 0.6MM - 1.2MM

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/waterco-...650.16543__null

Better to buy something you know is sure good,
you need to check this !
Specifications
The filtration grade (micron rating) indicates smallest particle size separated (e.g., 5, 75, 300, 600 µm).
