Where do you get that USD1099? This is how much it listed for in the Apple Store, and I don't see how it can sell cheaper elsewhere, unlike Malaysia. Converted to Ringgit it would be RM4168.32 using the universal currency calculator. And add on shipping and voila, you arrive at that 4799.

That's the going rate. I tend not to argue with these money exchangers.

look at it this way.
that's the price for it here. you pay that much to the local resellers and you got a place to demo, someone who will help you with local issues and stuff like that.

do you all want to be where Sennheiser's customers are today? 2 local agents who do *no* marketing at all, simply because the main office couldn't be bothered?

Wow I'm surprised at the rabid support for high prices on this particular thread. biggrin.gif As a consumer you're supposed to ask for better pricing knowing that:

- shipping is built in to the retail prices
- rental and salaries are a lot higher in Singapore, yet their prices are the same here

I know the difficulties of retail yet I see local Apple retail outlets with limited stock manned by surly and clueless salespeople. I don't think most Apple retailers in Malaysia are trying hard enough.

xaw5126, you're right since I'm not in the retail business and don't plan to be. Since you have the experience, please explain rather than responding with a dark, "to be continued" style sentence.

I can understand the financial side of things, but I cannot forgive the lack of customer service at some of these local Apple retailers. I still stand by my statement that I don't think most Apple retailers in Malaysia are trying hard enough.

Yes i think so too, maybe i m a dumb dumb, but Apple announced "RETAIL PRICE" at usd 1,199 = Rm4,169.60, but shops in Malaysia is at Rm4999. Some of you guys are saying TAX & SHIPPING & RENTAL, that cant be argued but isnt it to be added with "DEALER PRICE" dont tell me Apple Malaysia sells its apples at RETAIL PRICE shop operators, Then shop operators add in their cost n profits needed ?

I would rather get from the person who's selling to the retailers.

I found it funny when steve jobs announce a price drop on the new imacs, when in Malaysia's price seems so high. if reduce price also higher then retailed price in US.

OVER PRICE~

ER...Supermassive...in case you dunno.... whatever items they sell in US, you cannot directly convert and assume thats the selling price for Malaysia. you have to factor in tax, customs, shipping, forex.

go and check anything they sell in US , not just apple products and you will see that the price is of course higher/lower depending on those factors i mentioned earlier.

then welcome and join us
see how good u are......

i dont think the price is high. It's already consumer computer price.

We stay in malaysia, this is wat out country made of. Elertronic, computers, ton and ton of stuff, we are much more expensive that others.
Not just apple, normal PC Mobo, GPU also same, sure got better price in singapore. In car entertaiment like HEadunit, amplifire..... also very cheap in singapore.

@ tishaban. I can't continue the story, because the details are P&C.

if you've had a bad experience, write to the manager of the store, make a complaint. the main reason bad salespeople continue being bad is that no one ever complains.

Apple Malaysia
03 27111888

if you want to complain immediately, then just ask for the manager of that store. Don't let him/her try to *fix* the problem, instead take him aside and tell him the whole story of your experience. Be calm and composed. Getting angry only makes you look bad.

If you guys really feel the prices here are unfair, or expensive, then *do* something about it.
organise a protest.
write a formal complaint letter to Apple Malaysia, and all you guys sign it. Send a copy to the Consumer Tribunal.

do not continue to complain here, because that will achieve nothing. all the fellas who are here are *not* the people who set the prices.

as cRazYee mentioned, the pricing for Apple products are *fixed* by Apple Malaysia. The resellers like CG, MacAsia, Machines have no real control over it at all.
