i believe is just a miscommunication from both sides, for a youtuber a strike on the channel is quite a grave issue, usually small copyrights holder communicate first and issue a DMCA takedown on the video itself after sometime (not just a day) if they fail to reach an agreement. Not directly strike his channel

So from a youtube community standpoint, this is a overreaction, its like bringing an army with machineguns to a dodgeball fight.

Usually strike are done by trolls or big corporations, so understandably if you are not a big corp, they will treat you like a troll. I hope you two able to reach for an agreement and solution to this problem.

hmm, i had a look on the pic, seems original to constitute his own work or creation. Its his virtualization of Youtubers, he did not copy the characters design directly from anywhere. Always ask first, many youtubers try to claim fair use for many thing but it doesnt resonate well to some creators in other countries. Japan does not have a fair use concept, and even taking a picture or content that the business itself uploaded to a open platform still requires asking for permission first and its common for them to reject outright. These answers are more appropriate for the situation. I still think Jeremy just dont bother to ask because its a nobody, if its drawn by someone famous, he would probably ask first.

TS, please just end it already, when he tweet out that tweet that he will change policy and you agree to retract strike, you should have end there, it doesnt matter if you think he should have done more.

A youtuber with rabid fan base and as big as him couldnt be bothered to make a video 'admitting they are at fault and which can be used against them'. You should have take a step back when you have the chance. He offered to remove that image, which you could have agreed (many content creators usually reach out requesting deletion of that section, which youtuber will normally comply and reupload without the part), but by forcing through a formal apology in VIDEO form, you are just ego boosting.

In the end, you go to court, you need lawyers, especially one that can cross country. Its good that you stand up at first, but you are tactless at bringing conflicts to an end

maybe, while I am inclined to stand with TS, law may be muddy on IP and copyright issue, I watched some copyright lawyer youtubers before and some cases which you though wont win, can be won and some case you thought definitely win will be lost, it will depends on how good is the lawyer and seeing TS isnt likely to have a good lawyer or able to afford one, its unlikely to go in his favor.

If TS is confident that he can come out on top or can take it if he lost then I wish him good luck in his battles
