Callum Hudson-Odoi has reportedly hired a personal trainer and is taking extra sessions outside club training as he’s determined to win a regular spot under Frank Lampard.

The manager has always been open about what he demands from the 19-year-old – hard work in training and consistency in games.

Lampard proved his point when he gave the teenager another start in the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday after the winger made an impact in the 3-3 draw against West Brom.

“Callum gave us everything I wanted,” Lampard told Chelsea’s official website after the West Brom game.

“He gets his goal from giving us something different and that’s what he needs to do because that’s the impact he can have for us.

“It has to be consistent but he’s given himself a great platform to continue in that vein because he’ll be very important for us if he does.”

However, Hudson-Odoi will face fierce competition from Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and even Timo Werner for the winger role.

And to improve his chances of first-team appearances, the England international has reportedly put in extra effort outside Chelsea’s regular training sessions.

According to a report from The Sun, Hudson-Odoi is spending £1,500 a month to hire a “specialised fitness guru” and renting the entire pitch of a non-league club near his south London home. It said he had been undergoing the sessions since before this season began.

The report said the sessions include resistance, endurance and speed training in addition to normal training with Chelsea.

The personal sessions took place four times a week before the season started but have now reduced to twice a week to fit around matchdays.

As Chelsea fans, you can’t help but admire his effort and dedication and hope they pay off on the pitch.
